The rear wiper on my corolla doesn't "park" - I have to switch it off as it gets to the upright position. The intermittent function on the rear wiper also doesn't work - the wiper does nothing in this position.
Tried taking the motor off and cleaning the disk inside with the contacts on but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
If I buy a secondhand motor is this likely to cure the problem, or is the problem somewhere else in the wirng/swtich and how do I go about diagnosing this first ?
Many thanks !!

Ok, I bought a used car last october (5 months ago) Rang DVLA 1 month back as I had a niggling feeling to see if it was registered in my name. It wasn't. (lazy dealer never sent off slip I gather).
So...DVLA on phone said to register, I must go directly to my local DVLA office (Sidcup), and take with me these things;
V62
V10
V5C/2
Insurance Cert.
MOT
Ok, now I read the V62...and I gather I will not need this as I have (and written my details) the V5C/2 -New Keepers Supplement.
Or am I wrong, and will I need to fill in a V62 and a V10?
Or just a V10?
I'm so confused...really not into paperwork. Read more
K thanks all..very easy straight forward process...all i had to fill in was address and sin a form...sorted.
Thanks again :)

Does anyone know if there is a relay in the rear fog light circuit, and if so were it is on the car?
When the rear fog lishts are turned on the dash indicator lights up but the rear lights do not come on.
Any thoughts please. Read more

Experts say the BBC2 show, which regularly attracts up to 8million viewers, is now telly?s hottest ticket.
To make matters worse for fans, the waiting list is wiped clean at the end of each season, with just a ?reserve list? of those who only just missed out staying on it.
And producers insist that HALF of the audience are females, so they ?don?t end up with a bunch of ugly male car geeks ruining everyone?s Sunday night?.
hi im fitting a supercharger to my lexus and was just wondering if any one has fitted one before and if so how hard is it to fit and are there any pitfalls to look out for.

My "uncle" Alan (friend of my Dad's) had a Triumph 2500 saloon with a Shorrocks aftermarket S/C kit fitted.
Being 12 at the time and a junior petrolhead, I was deeply impressed by all the angle iron, belts and plumbing this added to the motor.
It sounded fantastic too, at higher revs the blower used to whine like a Bassett hound that had been left alone in the house.
None of the above modifications were done AFAIK :-D although he could've done with better brakes, then he wouldn't have totalled it into the back of a lorry ...
On my 2003 1.8IXS the instument dials are white. Now, the fuel gauge has two black dots on the right of the gauge which must just be the fixings? or do they mean anything?
There are then two lines , one at about 'twenty to' an one at about 'ten to'. Are these indications of empty and full, as when the gauge drops to the lower line or thereabouts the little yellow petrol pump light comes on (intermittently), but there is still a long way to go to the right of this line and I am afraid I will run out of fuel.
Can anyone explain this to me. Have I still fuel in when the yellow pump light appears? Also, what if I fill the tank completely. Will it just reach the upper 'ten to' line, or will it go past there. I am really confused.
One other thing - these white dials are not very clear especially at night and I can't find a rheostat to adjust them.
Thanks everyone
Moggie

Not got a 45 to hand to look at for you; but I dont remember any adjustment for dash lighting on them. Seem to recall same problem for a customer.

Hi all.
December 2007 I picked up my nice new Focus 1.6(115) zetec climate. Love the car, drives well, well built etc. HOWEVER it would appear that my 9-10K miles a year is going to change drastically to 20-25k. Fuel consumption is the one downer on the Focus (max 38mpg) and I now wonder if I should chop it in quick for a diesel. Sods law I part ex'd a diesel Seat Toledo for the Focus-partly because I only done 8K miles last year in it so thought petrol would be okay.....
Any thoughts from anyone as to the best way to go? Focus is on a PCP but settlement is £10K, which I'm likely to be able to get (ish) from a main dealer if I go for something less than a year old. My head says if the numbers work go for a pre-reg Seat Altea/Toledo again since I know the car etc etc. All suggestions gratefully received! Read more
Well its a funny old world... Tried the 2.0 tdi Altea and hated it - powerful yes but very limited power band and noisy compared to (*anything*!). Ride was also awful. So scrubbed that instantly. On the way back home I thought, out of interest, I would pop into my local Ford dealer (not where I bought the Focus) and just see what they had there. As it happened a car transporter was just leaving the site. In the corner were a good number of unpriced, unwashed 56, and 07 plate cars. A couple were TDCi's. So I spoke to a salesman, who didn't know any details about them, no prices etc. Asked for a price on mine (explaining the situation that basically looking for a straight swap for a diesel). The price he came back with was £1500 MORE than anyone else had offered - based on the 57 demonstrator they were about to put on sale. Fantastic I thought - but how much was the demonstrator? Don't know yet came the reply. I was about to walk out muttering about incompetent saleman etc when it struck me that I now had a firm valuation for my car which they were unlikely to change so long as I bought from them by the end of the month. So I enquired about the 07 plate tdci zetec I had seen fresh off the transporter. Would they be prepared to straight swap on this? I knew the rough price for it should be about £10500. After a long chat with 'the manager' back came the offer - they would do the 2007, 07 5 door tdci zetec climate, 12K miles, for £9991 - allowing me not only a straight swap, but also £3 a month LESS than I am paying now!
I'm not convinced they will make anything out of this, but must have needed it to achieve end of month targets. Drove it and whilst a bit noisy cold, was sweet when warm. The computer average mpg stored was 47.3mpg - at least 10 mpg more than I have ever seen from the petrol. So now I'm happy, Ford are happy and the bank manager will be happy!
Thanks for the comments - I'm off to have my free extra pint of beer a month the deal now allows me!!!
Any experience of these, both round town and open road mileage figures?
Might be tempted into a 1.8 SRI from my current Mondeo TDCi Read more
I've got poor experience of that particular engine. In my case, it needed exactly 11.9 litres around town. That's just terrible, cause I got 10.6 in same conditions in a Lexus IS 250 (Auto). How the Japs do it, is just beyond me...
Hi,
I need to know what type of ignition system the 3.0 senator uses.
Does it use a distributor/pickup trigger (distributorless) etc?
Does the ECU have any input for advance/retard?
As much info in this area as possible would be greatly appreciated!!
Many thanks,
Jon

The wiper motor needs 2 power suppies to work correctly.1 is a switched supply from the front switch/delay relay and the 2nd is to power the motor to the park position when switched off. When checking voltage at the motor ,make sure the plug to the motor is disconnected.hth
