Hi all. I want everyone to beware of the above registered car being sold by a West London dealer. I owned this car for 4 months and had to resort to legal action to force the dealer to take the car back. It needs a complete engine rebuild and probably the gearbox too. It was also sold with a falsified service history though I have amended the service book to reflect this. I just don’t want anyone else being caught out with this car or by this rogue dealer. Please share this post with anyone who might be thinking of buying a Mini or who specialise in these cars. Read more

S40 Man

From the mot history it doesn't look like a cared for car. It had a nail in the rear tire for over a year and lots of suspension and abs faults. I don't really want a mini but thanks for the heads up.

I am looking at buying my first car and don't have much experience in cars and would really appreciate if anybody could help me, I like both the fiat panda and nissan pixo, if anybody has any experience of either of the cars i would be really thankful. I have found a 2008 fiat panda elegenza 1.2 and a nissan pixo 2010 1.0 both £2500 and have less than 35k miles. I am leaning more towards the panda as it has greater head room and feels larger inside, but the pixo has greater mpg. From what I could see online though they are also both reliable cars. Thanks in advance.

Provided the Panda has been looked after and serviced, I wouldn't hesitate, We have a 2007 1.1 here, owned since 2009 and now on 70000 miles. The only thing that's been needed are 2 drop links, which were a simple DIY job recently. And a couple of back boxes which seem a bit vulnerable to corrosion. It is a very simple car to maintain and extremely cheap to run, it will give you 45 to 50 mpg, and more on a run. The engine goes back to the 1980s but is a sweet revving delight, the whole car has a charm which is rare in a modern car, every time I drive it I feel 30 years younger! In fact if i could only have one car going forward, I may well choose a Panda for its sheer charm. Reminds me very much of the cheekiness of the original Mini

Going through my 2008 v70d history to see what needs doing after getting through it's mot with a couple of tyres changed. It had a 'V' belt changed, is this a timing belt or some other belt? Read more

Timing belt was changed at 56k and now has done 112k. The reason for the question was that after an accident the repairs included replace "v" belt. It was quite a major smash but the repairs were brilliant. I intend changing the timing belt at 130k.

Even if it is possible, not too sure why anyone would want a system that was 12 years out of date?Very likely to be a job a lot more involved than you might think.

Happy Blue!

The last time I sold a car privately, I advertised it as being in good condition, full service history with paperwork as proof.

When the buyer arrived, everything was ready for him to peruse before he drove the car, including all the paperwork and the spare key. He was happy and wrote to me afterwards saying how pleased he was that I had made it easy for him. ...

Had a weekend in Budapest, got on a bus at the airport and bought the tickets from the machine, sat on the bus and the driver in good English asked if we were pensioners. Yes says I, he informed us that all public transport in Budapest is free as long we we are in the EU.

Just over two weeks ago I was driving along the southern part of the M25 during the evening and saw a distinct speed camera flash in my mirrors while travelling at well over 80mph. I have never heard of speed cameras on gantries being set to enforce the 70mph limit; I assumed they were for lower limits due to traffic or roadworks. Fortunately the two week period has gone by and I have not received the letter warning of impending prosecution. Has anyone been prosecuted after being caught going above 70 by a gantry camera? those around the Clacket Lane section enforce the National Speed Limit. Enforcement begins at (Limit +10% +2mph), so 79mph in a 70mph limit.
