Hi all,

When I turn the fans up full there would appear to be a lot of vibration. Like it’s about to take off. Also when the ac is on and I put it on auto it only really seems to come out of the windscreen vents. Is that normal?

Thanks any help would be great Read more

Vibration from the fan motor can be caused by debris in the impellor blades.(leaves etc) .Air flow direction and temperature are controlled by small electric servo motors..Unfortunately on this model they suffer with broken flap drive shafts with the result that the system does not operate correctly..

If the car salesman says you dont need to run in a new car anymore and just drive it normally, then why does the owners manual say don't rev past 3,000 rpm for the first 600 miles ?

as you can imagine with a brand new Sandero stepway with a 90 tce engine, it's impossible not to rev above 3,000 rpm (especially in the lower gears pulling out from side roads).... Read more

No it hasn't. Materials and oil are fundamentally the same.

Materials have certainly imprioved as have casting technology. Todays oils are vay batter tha oils from 40 years ago. Look up the gardings from 1980 and the current gradings and you will see the facts...

Anyone found or used such insurance to avoid costs when returning the car at the end of the lease?

We went to have a look at a used but newish car at a local dealership last year. A small Hyundai: solid enough car, but uninspiring in just about every way. Clunky gearchange and modest accelaration, to put it kindly.

We took it for a test drive, got back, and then he treated us to a list of insurance products including alloy wheel insurance. I didn't have the heart to tell him that the Hyundai had steel wheels....

This might be the time to return to the forum after about eight years away. I haven’t really been away but I have not posted for nearly a decade.
Anyway, one or two might just remember I once wanted a Legacy but bought a Berlingo instead.
Then in 2013 a Roomster replaced it and now, on Friday in fact, a Jazz Sport will replace the Skoda.
I am pleased with the deal I got, having a broker quotation helped the local dealer shave the best part of £2K off the price. Just a few weeks wait and now the car is being prepped ready for Friday.

Happy to post first impressions and future experiences. Happy to answer all car related questions as well. Read more

We looked at it before buying the Fabia, on paper it was the best match for our outgoing Note but there were a few immediate issues. First was the dealer, he only had a CVT to test drive since he claimed that was all they sold. The second was the power/torque figures. 130 bhp looked great but the torque figure was less than the Note and at a higher rpm. That did not look like relaxing driving but a test drive may have convinced me. The price was a major hurdle to overcome as well. After discounts which were very small at the time (late February) it was going to cost £4000 more than the Fabia.

When I read a couple of magazine reports it was clear my gut feelings were correct. They did not rate it much over the 1.3....

The taxi industry could see a wealth of changes if, or when, driverless cars enter the industry. Our latest blog explores what will happen when autonomous vehicles enter the taxi world:

We wont see driverless taxis on our roads any time soon.

I am not so convinced. In the UK alone 33 people are killed on the road every week. In 90% of cases it is human error....

After I had a new Aircon compressor fitted, my
Head unit (Ford original) started turning its self
off by its self, which kills the Aircon, I also get the
Square box on the radio display telling me it will
turn off in 60 minutes While the engine is running,
only use to get this when the radio was turned on
when parked and engine not running.
After about half hour to an hour I can turn it back
on. Read more

Something strange going on here. There is no direct connection between the climate/nav panel and the a/c compressor. The circuit runs through various electronic modules, relays and fuses to make the system operational. What happens if the a/c pump is disconnected?

For the image conscious it must make sense but for Main Dealers not to offer any discount on a £90 k car and to impose waiting lists this situation must be unique.

Similarly with the Discovery Tv6 s reputation for blowing engines and other reliabilty nightmares the workshops in this part of the midlands are full of broken down LRs leading to long waits to get them fixed.

Can someone explain this madness ? LRs are rarely seen in Australia or the Middle East where reliability can be a matter of life or death ! Read more

kiss (keep it simple)

fron what I can gather on the forums, LR engines aren't failing due to stress, more like problems with all the bolt on goodies (turbos egr valves) or simply bad build quality. If the oil doesn't get to where it's supposed to, any engine is going to suffer.
