Hello Chaps, I am hoping there are a few IT savvy members of the forum about today. I have just replaced the ink cartridges in my Epson XP-322 printer. I bought from an ink website and the cartridges are probably refills but do have Epson on the side. The printer won't recognise them and I can't find a way around the problem. I replaced the black cartridge a few months ago and that all went well. But now replaced all four B, M, C and Y. I have unplugged the printer and left it for hours to see if it re-boots, but still it refuses to print. They are new full ink cartridges too. Any ideas of how I can through this??

I've had a HP LaserJet 6L (black only) for 20+ years, never let me down ever and toners can be had for as little as £6 each, (they were about £50 at one time). Still kept as a back-up and I sometimes take it away on jobs if I might have to print-out some documents. It's so old it uses an LPT1 (parallel) cable!

As the kids grew-up and needed to produce homework, it forced me to get a colour printer. I opted for an Epson multi-function unit. What a complete pile of carp. It was always needing cartridges (it had six). The photo print option was great quality, (when it didn't tell you it needed new ink), but this was required so seldom that it really wasn't worth the hassle. I don't know why I put up with it so long, (maybe because I personally used the old HP laser 99% of the time)?...

I'm currently the owner of a VW Polo and having been in numerous BMWs and a few Mercedes, I'm left wondering what the appeal of up market cars is, apart from more power from the engine. A colleagues Jaguar XJ was no quieter or smoother than a decent VW, Audi or similar, and the interior seemed modest apart from some nice walnut veneer. Are they better engineered under the shell? I know the Range Rover is better than most competitors off road, but few owners go off road, apart from parking on the kerb, or in a field for a car boot sale. And you can't usually safely hurtle round corners at racing speed on public roads. Read more

It could be that the Kia turns to dust after four years, probably not though.

Seeing as Kia are happy to provide a 7 year warranty I'm pretty sure they won't!

Every fortnight I fill my tank with diesel. And I glance up at the big neon Shell price indicator over the station which says 'Autogas' 62.9p

And I glance back, actually stare disconsolately, at the price clocking up on my pump. ... Read more

But the main problem was the air filter box. At regular intervals the lid simply blew off despite being securely fixed and it was after all the standard Ford airbox. The dealers solution was simple, to prevent it blowing off they put a number of tie wraps (zip ties) round the air box and it never happened again. Not very reassuring when they never cured it other than with a bodge.

The old mixer systems used to do that. The newer vapour injected or liquid injected systems do not. Zip ties on the airbox is not the answer. Better to use springs to hold the airbox. That won't stop the back fires but it will release the pressure without the box blowing apart.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is how clean LPG is. My sump oil is still honey coloured after twelve months. Running on petrol it would be black within weeks....

Good for North Korea as they can use this to try and stop other countries putting sanctions on them as they are trying to look like they want change when I think they are using it to keep doing what they are already doing.

Trump can make out that he's stopping the North Koreans and promoting peace despite nothing changing. Read more

I personally believe there shouldn't be any war on this beautiful planet Earth. So, we should both North and South Korean to come towards peace and friendly mutual relations.

Get rid of dictators and religion and it may happen, untill then were stuck with it....:-(

3p a litre?

WOW!!

That equates to a saving of £1.50 a tank for me, how generous of JS and all the other money grabbing fuel bandits.

I wonder how much “additional” profit these fuel bandits have made since the Oil per barrel price dropped at the beginning of June (and previous to that)!

Get the price reduced by at least 6p a litre where they will STILL make enough profit.

Then maybe the ripped off motorist may be able to crack a smile again!!

Not impressed at all!

It seems there are many new 'top of the range' cars these days and I did begin to think are these people wealthy or living a lifetime of slavery with a plan to retire at 80? I drive a car worth £250 which I have owned for 15 year yet have a high income my salary alone is £80k basic plus 20-25% bonus. The other half earns nearly six figures and yet again drives a car worth less than £2k. Are we living in a country where many of the people in 'high end' cars are simply slaves to the system? Opinions welcome. Read more

I’ve had it 2.5 years, at the moment we’re currently on a 4 month streak where it hasn’t spontaneously lost all power whilst driving. For a vehicle at that price range it’s just unbelievable that they can’t guarantee I’ll get to work each day (10 Miles!)

Wouldn’t buy another one and I’m very excited about the XC60!

Not really loud, sounds like someone squeezing a parrot? Don’t know how to describe it really, so took a video. Any ideas of the cause much appreciated

So, having replaced my head gasket in feb 17, the head itself failed in feb 18. On inspection by the garage they found a crack in the head itself. They also found damage to the cylinder bores in two of the cylinders.

In discussion with the garage, the most economical solution was to obtain a second hand engine, and have the garage fully check the cylinders while fitting a new head gasket, thermostat, water pump and timing chain.

Last night (just under 3 months from picking the vehicle up) the car temperature reached the red and on looking in the expansion tank it was well below minimum. I did note that the area around the expansion tank was damp (the weather on the day was bright sunshine and high temperatures) and there was a pool of coolant below the expansion tank. I pulled over and called the green flag man to get me home. The vehicle starts fine and sounds normal. The only thing I noted was that having topped up the radiator with some water, after 10 minutes of running at 1500rpm and with the temps Normal, the expansion tank was almost full, on inspecting, there was at least some of the original fluid in there (the coolant was bright orange).

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?

Yes had that happen when I first bought the car.
I think this is going to be the end of the pathy for us.
The head gasket less than 3 months old!
The garage hasn’t checked it yet, but he’s positive we’re looking at a new one, so I think it’s time to find a new car.

Yeah but how oftern does one need to buy headlights?!

I think the point being made is that even a mundane object such as a new headlight costs a pretty packet. So if anything goes on the car, and it will on an old car, it’ll cost a good whack to repair. A good example of something that might go is the exhaust. Or the clutch. However, there is one option and that is to use reclaimed and reconditioned parts, which should reduce the pain a bit.

Further to my previous post a short while ago, Having had a problem with keyless entry for a while now, another problem battery ran to flat / new battery on ran down 3 times. Auto Elec, Co pulled fuses, couldn't find the culprit advised to try Ford dealership, seems as though this is a harder problem than online video's tell us. Read more

The first auto electrical company I took it to said they had gone through the procedure of 'pulling fuses' they also did diagnostic checks, Although they found and corrected some faults I wasn't aware of [I have the diagnostic readout]. The end result was they have said 'it still has a Small drain'. The recommendation was to take the car to a Ford Dealership, which in Hindsight I should have done first. They want £106 to look at it and whatever on top to try and fix the car. I have seen online even Ford garages unable to correct the fault.
