In the same (as the Rolls Cullinan) June issue of Car magazine there was an interesting article regarding the progress of attempts to make fuel from air. This is done through removing the CO2 from the atmosphere in a process called Direct Air Capture. The general points are,
1 Banks of fans, known as contactors, draw air in from the atmosphere.... Read more
Hm. It may be carbon-neutral, but it's probably energy-neutral as well, once those fans have been powered, the KOH has been retrieved from the pot.carbonate, and the hydrogen electrolysis has been achieved. Anyone for another perpetual motion machine?

They're everywhere. Email programme, forums, banking sites, the lot.
They do go away eventually, but the most annoying one of the present moment is the double cookies warning on my online banking....

It's annoying how simple this fix was. But, at least it's now sorted!!

Tyres have a side pull due to certain aspects of their construction. This pull will not always be noticeable and varies in magnitude and direction from tyre to tyre. It also varies with the direction of rotation of the tyre. If the tyres are not directional changing them from side to side on the car will often cure a steering pull.
I'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around this....
I was reading an article in June's Car magazine on the new Cullinan and can't help noticing just how ugly it is!. I mean, it really is and awful looking thing, not just in detail, but also its proportions. The article i read was by Stephen Bayley, someone with a diferent perspective to a motoring journo who's articles i have enjoyed immensely in various (usually classic) car magazines. He is quite clearly in despair over it's appearance, at one point commenting,
"Taste is the last threshold of shame. No one has ever said: 'Do you know, i wish i had worse taste'. It is in this context the new Rolls-Royce SUV excels so effortlessly"... Read more
Saw the article a couple of weeks ago and immediately thought of the 1970's Ford Bronco which was one ugly beast. Looks to me like Rolls have copied it.
I want to buy a used car - I live in Peru and models are limited and there aren't any diesel cars after 2011. I have narrowed the choice down to:

Thank you for the replies much appreciated. I should add to the list:

Can anyone tell me are there any problems with this car are they any good Read more
Not much to go wrong on these. The only concern may be that this engine can have a high oil consumption. So watch for blue smoke out of exhaust. Also make sure power steering works ok.
The air con in my 2015 Mondeo Estate seems to be over sensitive to temperature changes and effectively seems to try to keep the temperature exactly as set, blowing hot and cold alternately. This almost continuous operation is frustrating and unnecessary and probably doesn't help fuel cnsumption. My previous Ford Focus cars did not work in this manner, requiring a degree or two of temperature change before reacting. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve this? Read more
Being pedantic, it sounds as if you have climate control, not plain aircon.
Easy enought to tell on every car with A/C or climate we have had....
Hello!
My partner and I have paid a deposit on a used car and agreed a price on a part exchange for our existing car. We have a Car Sales Invoice which contains the details of both cars and the agreed price. A day before going to complete the exchange the guy at the garage called to say that his boss doesn't want to do the part exchange any more. Can the garage do this? We went for a part exchange as the MOT was about to expire and we didn't want the extra expense and hassle of selling it ourselves. Is the Sales Invoice legally binding at all? We're currently waiting a call back from the boss of the garage to discuss but he's taking his time...... Read more
You’ll probably find something in the small print that lets them wriggle out. Even if there isn’t they’re clearly dodgy and likely to be a fly by night outfit that would bankrupt their current trading name before paying a penny to you. Buy elsewhere even if it does end up costing a bit more as the car they’re selling is likely dodgy too.
My experience is that deaf drievrs are actually more observant than "hearing" drivers - especially those who turn up the volume on their radio/CD/MP3 players to setting 50.
One I knew was actually able to diagnose engine problems purely through vibrations....
