Hi all
Not had aircon in a 2016 new generation Galaxy since March. One of the main pipes has fractured. Been to local Ford dealer twice, first for diagnosis, second a faulty new part delivered apparently. It's under warranty but action so far is woeful.
They are now saying mid July earliest as part is on back order! This is an absolute nightmare with 5 of us plus a dog. Think we're going to have to change holiday plans as it's just not comfortable on long runs.
Anyone got any ideas of how I could escalate this and try and get some action? I bet the factory production lines aren't shut down for this, so there must be some available somewhere!!
Is this a known problem on the new generation Galaxy/SMax? Guessing it must be if parts are that unavailable and on such a long lead time.
Thanks

Question SLK172 - Roof

HJ says to stick with the same brand of premium diesel.

A case could be made for alternating brands. First, no make's additive is going to be incompatible with another's. The publicity would be damaging and liability could only be discharged if any incompatibility were made public. Second, one premium may be better in one area that another, so alternating would give the best of both worlds.... Read more

Once again I have read about HJ saying that automatic drivers should left-foot brake.

I cannot follow his logic as surely this should apply to manual car drivers too? The left foot uses the clutch or is redundant. In both cases the right foot uses the brakes and accelerator. It is implausable that an automatic driver is more likely to mis-brake than a manual driver.... Read more

The use of seat belts was advertised very widely and persistently. The dangers of mobile phone use and the penalties should be advertised similarly.

Hi,
My wife’s PCP ends in September so we went shopping for a new car in May, with the intention of collecting it in September - which we have been clear about from the start. Although it is the same make the new car is from a different dealer.

The dealer contacted us to say the car will be ready to collect in mid July, but I don’t want it then as I don’t want to be paying for two cars in July and August. The dealer says it has to be before September because emission regs are changing, but she is very vague and it sounds like a yarn to me. She suggested that we could do a voluntary termination to get rid of the current car early, but by my calculations we haven’t paid off 50% of the loan (and never will as the balloon payment is over 50%). She won’t take it in p/ex as she says it’s not worth the settlement value (despite being 5k miles under its limit, scratch free and front tyres are 100 miles old).

Can she make us take the new car before we want it? How can I avoid owning 2 cars for a couple of months?

Confused and seeking advise please!

Many thanks in advance. Read more

Please would someone explain to me how to use the 'Tiny url' system. Entering those words into Google will bring up the site at the top of the list.

Thanks in anticipation. Read more

You put in the total url (web address) of the site page you're seeing (feature, reorder). It might just be many characters long. The TinyUrl site will at that point convert this to a web address which is perpetually a lot more limited and better for sticking into messages, posts and so forth on the off chance that you wish to make a connect to the first page.

Having posted recently regarding a parasitic draw [which I still have] I have been removing the battery connections to conserve power. Having reconnected the battery several times the radio comes on without resetting a code. This seems unusual as other cars I have had needed the code reset. Confused.

Many cars with factory alarm fits have a power sounder that has its own built in back up battery. Vary common to fail on loads of Vauxhall models.

The clue is in the name, they are "courtesy" cars. You have no god given right to one when you car goes in for work, many garages require you to book weeks in advance if its essential. Even then if their car breaks they can simply say sorry offering at best a new date when the car should be available.
