Originally the wipers would only operate at one speed and had to be timed to stop at bottom of the screen using the wiper stick. Wipers then stopped altogether..fuse was blown,I replaced the wiper relay and fuse but the fuse continues to keep blowing. The wiper motor is tested and works fine.

I don't know if there could be a connection.. but just recently the remote locking stopped functioning, this could relate to the tailgate lock playing up which I will have to have checked seperately.. however this originally wasn't effecting the wipers functioning.... Read more

Thank you for your reply. Indeed it was a faulty motor all along.. seemingly there's a resistor that sits on the outside of the motor which more than likely had been breaking down.. says an auto electrician, after I described what was happening. I got a good replacement before the scrap yards closed today and all is honky dory now. Thank you once again.

I also wish to thank `Railroad' and `elekie&a/c doctor' for their input.. accordingly they too get a thumbs up.

Hi,

I've got an intermittent problem with my VW polo

It always starts fine first thing in the morning when it is cold but occasionally if i've gone out in the car and left it some where for anything from 5 minutes it wont start. If I leave it until it cools down it will start no problem.

I first noticed something was wrong when I took the car for a spin and as I was slowing down near a junction the engine simply died leaving me stuck in the middle of the road. I left the car for about 10-15 mins to cool and then it started up fine again. This was dangerous - the engine cutting off whilst driving.

The above happended twice - engine dying whilst driving. Since then the problem with the engine struggling to start when its warm has been intermittent. I've since had the car serviced and the distributor cap replaced but the problem is no where resolved.

I've read a few forums which state it could be a faulty distributor hall sensor or temp seonsor. I took it to the garage and he tested the temp sensor using some diagnostic and he says it fine showing at 75 when hot. Are these diagnostic test accurate? Usually the temp gauge should settle around 90 but mine only ever reaches 75. He says it is fine as diagnostic reading is same as what is showing on temp gauge.

He thinks it could be a faulty relay or crank sensor.

Any one have any ideas or comments on this please? Read more

Hall sensors don't tend to suffer intermittent faults. They either work or they don't. If the hall sensor had failed then you would have no HT spark, no fuel pump and no fuel injector switching. Next time you have the problem check to see if any of these are missing. If the problem is with the hall chip they'll all be missing.
Check the fuse box for signs of a poor connection. That's a common fault on these cars. So are ignition switch failures. Does the fuel pump ever fail to run? If not the relay won't be the cause of the fault. The easiest way to check injector switching is with a noid lamp. They're cheap to buy and have many uses.
The problem could also be flooding. This isn't uncommon on a partially warm engine. Does the exhaust smell of neat fuel, and does the engine crank like it lacks compression? All things to check when the fault next occurs.

I bought this car new in France in February 2013 and I am very pleased with it, however, in the handbook it says the first service is on 30000km. The oil looks very black, should I have it changed or wait till the service? Read more

I purchased a 2 year old ix35 2.0 auto from a Hyundai dealer in September 2014. The vehicle consistently pulls to the left on all roads and at all speeds. To maintain a straight line right hand pressure is required on the steering wheel.

The vehicle has been back to the dealer four times, tracking has been adjusted twice and dealer says vehicle is performing correctly. It still pulls left and dealer says there is nothing else they can check.... Read more

I recently purchased a 2007 Chrysler grand voyager 2.8 crd with 125k miles. It has full service history and the stack of paper work that came with it shows every little thing done including bulbs that have been replaced.

It has been driving fine untill last night when the EML came on. The car still drives fine and no lack of power. I checked the fault coad witch is p1130 and relates to fuel rail pressure. As said above it doesn't fell like anything is wrong. Does anyone know what it could be?... Read more

The light has gone out now I'm going to see how it goes for now but going through the paper work both fuel filters were changed on the 9/9/14.

I was given packs of these (or similar) products when i delivered new cars straight to certain valetting bays, the valetters could make one pack do two cars easily.

Did the Hilux myself when new, but after a few months the paint finish wasn't beading water quite as well as when first applied, just as you'd find with any polish or sealant....

My son has a Vauxhall Corsa C - he started to get gear selection problem for 1st & second and a juddering when pulling away. He eventually could not get 1st or second. Tow van now brought car home. I have checked and with the car idling i can select and of the 5 forward gears but when i start to release clutch all 5 gears make a cunching noise.
