Can the suspension on a 2008-2009 Fiat 500 or 500 Sports (diesel or petrol 1.4 - NOT Cabriolet) be replaced with that of a later model that features the upgraded suspension and anti-sway bar? If so, would it be both the front and rear suspension that would need to be replaced or was the front suspension left unchanged from 2010? What parts would I need for the job?
Or, would I be better off to go with non-original, after market parts and replace the suspension that way? (I don't want a rock hard sports suspension as the car would be doing some country Australia miles and I want to keep my teeth fillings!)... Read more
Hi there I have a slight issue that is steadily getting worse. It started intermittently but is now all the time. When I'm cruising at any speed, I.e foot at constant slight pressure on accelerator peddle, suddenly the engine loses power and seems to drag the car back. No warning lights show up. Even putting foot hard down on accelerator makes no difference. To stop it I have to lift foot from accelerator for couple seconds then put down again. After a second delay I can accelerate back up to speed again. Once cruising again it happens again. Therefore journeys are now a constant speed up slow down routine and it's getting worse.
Any ideas would be appreciative. I have took off the egr and cleaned it and it seems to still operate ok mechanically I.E not sticky but don't have the time or money to go down the route of steadily replacing different items of kit to find out it wasn't that. Read more
When you unplug the MAF the ECU has to make an assumption on the amount of air going into the engine which may mask other problems.
The only way forward is to plug the MAF back in, then get the fault codes cleared from the ECU & re-read after the symptoms return.
I noticed when I put my obd reader in , and press read dtcs, it gives the error code p0340 camshaft position sensor a circuit (bank 1 or single sensor)
No engine management light comes on for this error code.
It sometimes says the above code but with pending on the end.
This code has been coming up for a while, there is no freeze frame data.
Should I replace the camshaft sensor or is this normal?
I cleared the dtcs a lot of time, this code always comes up but no engine management light associated with this code. Instead I get the engine management light come on for p0130 for the O2 sensor. I am wondering why there is no engine management light for the camshaft sensor and could this be causing the
What is the normal life of a camshaft sensor?
There is actually a sale at europarts at the moment for camshaft sensor 40 % off at £30 hence the reason for asking the question.
Any ideas or comments much appreciated.

Hi, Oil change light came on in my car so I took it to my local repair guy who bought in the correct oil to do the change but the oil can and the 'Change the Oil' warnings are still coming on. Does anybody know how I can get rid of them?

First off, and maybe a stupid question, but...
The car is still under warranty (these have only been on the market for 2-and a half years). Now, I know that you can go outside the dealer network for an oil change, and still keep your warranty (under EU law), but if you get a problem outside warranty then any 'goodwill' is only likely if you've had it serviced by a dealer. If it's just been a 'local repair guy' who doesn't do a full VAT invoice, then your warranty won't be valid any more anyway....
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help - really tearing my hair out over this!!
My 09 Focus has an intermittant issue - when I'm driving along (and sometimes while stationary), all power to the engine goes, and the engine cuts out. When I'm driving and it does it, it feels like I've hit the brakes; the revs carry on, but when I coast to a standstill, it stalls and cuts out. I can normally re-start it, but it happens 2 or 3 times in a row!
I'm not very technical I'm afraid, and it's just passed it's service - they couldn't see any obvious faults anywhere. I have had the DPF replaced as well, and this was happening prior to then (the DPF was causing a seperate stuttering issue).... Read more
You would need the fault codes reading as a first step.
car just had full service, eratic idle with no power in driving?any ideas??? Read more
What year is it?
Does it have an Engine Management Light?...
I'm after a similar sized car to my current Mazda 3 Saloon, ideally petrol as i do a few short journeys a week and annual mileage of around 14k
With my current 2 litre Petrol Mazda I get around 25mpg around town and 40ish on a long motorway Journey. I would like to improve on these by 20% while still having around 150bhp as I currently do.... Read more
Everything made in Europe seems to be made with the 'bottom line' being the most important thing. I'm sure BMW know perfectly well how to make the engine unburstable, but it would cost them more and then their/PSA's garages cant make as much money on you when you come in with a broken engine
Thats why I want to try and stick to Japanese if I can. Yes, they may not have 'soft touch dashes' but thats fine. I'd rather have a mechanically sound car rather than one with a soft dash that I wont be touching anyway unless I have a crash.

Bilsteins are top notch stuff. Had Bilies on several rally cars as did ther friends with comp cars. They took some punishment. They'd be my choice. And probably more cost effective than buying parts from a dealer.
