Following its MOT the gaiter on the front nearside suspension anti roll bar link ball joint was replaced as it was split. Shorlty afterwards I noticed water leaking into the interior of the car, collecting on the carpet of the nearside/passesnger side foot-well area. As this seemed more than a coincidence I spoke to the garage in question however they said the leak has nothing to do with the work that they carried out. We also checked the drainaway gutters below the ventilation grilles near the engine area for blockage of leaves; a possible cause of the leak, which was found to be clear.
Could anyone tell me if repairs of this nature would cause a leak to the interior? Read more
I am looking for a MK5 Fiesta diesel as I've been very happy with my MK4 diesel. The question is are all MK5 diesels turbocharged?
While I'm about it, what are the turbos like for reliability? Read more
A turbo diesel model of this was available but not very popular as it was the old escort engine from the 1980s and not very refined. Most of this era fiesta models are usually rust buckets and not worth a bean.

Am thinking of buying a Mondeo Estate or similar from Ford Direct but have heard some rather disturbing stories about the level of customer service after purchase. One representative didn't seem to know that the car in question had 2 year roadside assistance and refused to help a driver in distress! Someone else could not get hold of the V5! Doesn't give me much confidence to go down this road. Can anyone give me a steer on buying from Ford Direct or Dagenham Motors as they are sometimes known as? Read more
Dagenham motors are one of the few dealer chains owned directly by Ford-most are not.Ford Direct cars are usually excellent.
The nine seater mini buses from both companies share the same body. Do they share the same diesel engines? Read more
They are all renault engines.
According to the pack an 11w Philips low energy bulb should last about 10,000 hours. We have such a bulb in our bathroom which will be on for no more than an hour a day.
I have just had to replace it. Last time I did so I wrote the date on the bulb, 22 June 2013. So this bulb has lasted fewer than 400 hours.
We have had low energy bulbs for years and the first Ikea ones we bought are 15 years old and just starting to fail.
One letter to Philips to be sent.

I`ve been using LED bulbs for a couple of years now and only had problems with the chinese bulbs, they dont last more than around 6 months but are on in winter about 6 to 8 hours a day, they dont blow, burn out, they just dim to about 1/3 original light but because they`re so cheap I bought 12 at £12
They save a lot of electric compared to even the low energy bulbs but I could not get on with the light they produced, not looked back since using LED and as mentioned the strip light led is really bright for 5 mtr length, just stick in place and its done
Hi all,
I'm after a radio code for my Ford Fiesta 1.2 lx after the car battery has ran flat. The number printed on the radio unit is M080963. Trying to get away without having to pay a frankly extortionate £30 quoted!!! Thanks in advance,... Read more
It was me hedging my bets!! Many thanks for saving me some money!!! Much appreciated
I've been trying to get as many folk to do it as possible before I write to DVLA.
In a nutshell, some queries return the correct answer, and some don't. Anyone who took their car test prior to 19 Jan 2013 and doesn't have a bike licence shoul have group A but either limited to trikes, or note 79 which means the same thing....
Today I parked, went into a shop, bought an item, paid, about 2 or 3 minutes in total. When I emerged I found a ParkingEnforcement Officer about to enter my details into his machine. He would not entertain leniency and despite my calm and very polite manner was the rudest and meanest person I have met for many a long year. (seperate complaint for this) However I digress: to the question,
There are no signs or road markings of any description at the spot or nearby. There is a dropped curb about 50 yards long, with no entrances/exits on it. At the end where I parked there is 8 dimpled paving slabs, lighter than the tarmac surface. According to the PEO this is a footway access to cross the road and I was parked across some of it. I pointed out there are no yellow lines or sign posts to indicate no parking. He insisted the dimpled paving slabs were enough to indicate this. I said a driver cannot see the slabs when approaching or parking and even when exiting the vehicle they are obscured by the vehicle. All to no avail. He issued the ticket and some gratuitous abusive and dismissive remarks to boot.... Read more
AN UPDATE
The location of the incident which led to my PCN and subsequent appeal, which I won: has obviously been examined by the local authority and they are making some changes to the road markings and signs. They must have realised that my point of defence was correct and they should not issue PCNs without the legal requirements for markings and signage being adhered to. Why they don't just do this to start with I don't know. It is not as if they don't have the time or man power to discharge their responsibility. They expect us to and will accept no excuse for transgression. One law for them etc etc.........
Leaks in the passenger footwell are a common problem on Corsa C models. It leaks through the body control module which is a big black box on the passenger side of engine bay. I sealed around mine a couple of years ago with silicon and been fine since. Google it.
