Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone may be helping to help me as my friend is stumped by my car. We went to see this car, and test drove it a couple of months ago, and all was well. I bought it, and on the way home it was pulling fine (has 150,000 on the clock, and has had a new genuine part turbo on it, engine sounded sweet and well looked after). I had to drop down in speed to 50 on the MW for a section, but when I put my foot down I had nothing. It had dropped into limp mode.... Read more
If the turbo pipes are blowing off after being secured properly there must be too much pressure from the turbo.
The ECU monitors the turbo pressure & controls it via the turbo N75 valve. This valve could be sticking or the turbo vanes could be sticking, but as it's a new turbo that's unlikely....
Just fitted new front brakes and for some reason after lowering the car the Auto transmission will not drive in D or R...just clicks.
If I roll the car back and fore in D it sometimes engages.... Read more
Ok 6 months have now past and all was fine until yesterday. I was at a junction and went to pull off and lost all drive.
got the car back to the house and have the following issues......
I keen on buying an Accord Diesel Estate. Budget of abour £4.5k to £5.5k.
I can get a 2007 model with about 90+k miles or a 2008/9 facelift model with 150k miles.... Read more
OK. Having considered the options, now planning to buy a 2007, 2.0 litre petrol estate, with around 70-90k on the clock.
Reasons: better seats than 2008 model, lower servicing costs than diesel, much cheaper than 2008 model (it would take 9 years for the better mpg of the newer model to make any savings), easier DIY than diesel, plenty of toys for the money....
I have just bought a cheap late 2003 Mazda 2 1.4 diesel with 100,000 miles which I believe is based on the Fiesta 1.4 TDCi engine. I have an issue where I start the car first thing in the morning and it runs for about 2 seconds. It then cuts out and will not start. If I prime the fuel using the hand primer in the engine bay I can see air bubbles moving in the clear fuel line. It will then start and run fine.
I think my mazda has had some aftermarket fuel lines added including the hand primer which I do not think is standard (I did read online a lot were replaced under warranty). However, the fuel lines mine has are really really long and run around the engine bay from the fuel filter to where they go into the cylinder (I cannot imagine Mazda fitted them like this under warranty). I would put a photo up but I cannot figure out how to.......They are so long I have to manually move them out of the way when I want to close the bonnet :(... Read more
Been to test drive yesterday on a 1.2 tsi new golf, is quite impressive for a 1.2 turbocharged comparing to the 1.4 tsi 122 in old golf unit, i find this unit is smoother in town run. so far been to 10miles test drive and get 49.6mpg with mix town run and dual carriage A- road, yet to try Motorway journeys wonder anyone has experience with it?
I have been reading around for this engine on Leon and octavia most i have found is 105ps not the 86 ps variant, i know the 105ps is with a 6 speed box which will have different mpg figures... Read more
Thats a good idea wll try and see can i find one and test drive it before putting deposit down! actually is the 105ps is just a remap given that both engine size is the same?
Hi can b/ms do high high mileage have got a chance of 56plate 530d with 128,000 miles on the clock it has got full b/m service history Thanks Read more
The problem is I do get it and I like to know if a posting is from somebody who knows what they are talking about.
I'm clear now that Gordon Bennett's and your postings are based on "years of experience". I'll weigh that against BMW/VW/MB etc expertise with current oil capabilities (with obvious marketing motivation) and decide who to go with....
