Hi,
Just read somewhere on the forum about the mercedes c class pulling to the left, I to have the same problem on my c250 cdi amg sport estate, new on 21/2/14.
Booked it into the dealer last week where they carried out the tracking/wheel alignment and gave declared that the car runs perfectly straight. Charged me £132. Drove the car home and exactly the same pulling to the left problem. Rang the dealer, suggested that I bring the car back in to try it. Service manager took the car out and declared that all c classes pull to the left (and he has driven loads of them!), tried the car on different roads, suggested that I swap the front tyres around, which I did last night, drive car today - still the same, so obviously not a tyre problem. I thought that the left brakes could be binding? Dies anybody have any thoughts? Read more
Wide, low profile wheels are the problem.
I had similar on my X type, but only when the OEM pirelli front tyres were getting to the point of needing replacing. Once the pirellis were changed it never happened again.
Audi, BMW, Land-Rover, Jaguar etc are making car designers redundant. Apparently they are no longer needed. Any of the staff can now create a new model by just increasing or decreasing size. To differentiate between models the font and rear lights will be changed a little while acrease line along flanks will be moved, up, down, angled or delted to make side views distinct. The dashboard will be nicked from another model in the range to reduce costs
Finally, to simplyfy model designations each model will go as Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large or Extra, Extra Large or S/M/L/XL,XXL for short.... Read more
Do remember that in the early 80s, Greenpeace et al. were all making huge noises that mankind was sending the earth into another ice age. Something they're quite keen for people not to remember. If they got it wrong then, is there a chance they're wrong now ?...
I have an almost full 1 litre can of fully synthetic 0w/20 Castrol professional left over from last year's service.
Will this be OK to use this year, does engine oil 'go off ' in time?... Read more
Will this be OK to use this year, does engine oil 'go off ' in time?
Of course it will, if its container has been kept closed, and preferably cool. If the oil can stand being hammered in a hot engine for hours on end (what it is designed to do) it will be quite happy at ambient temperature for years.

Thank you guys, you've been very helpful. I'll take it back on Saturday and see what they say.
I'm still baffled why your august publication sees no merit in LPG. I inherited my dad's 11 year old E46 1.8 BMW in 2010. The LPG conversion was £1,000. Of course the first mile is on premium Shell but after that the gas comes on at 46p a litre which must be equivalent to well over 60mpg. I've done 60,000 miles now, including several trips abroad. I don't need a calculator to tell me that the system has paid for itself several times over. Am I missing something? Read more
Here in Blackpool we have lots of nissan leaf taxis. If they think it is cheaper to drive electric vehicle then it is good for me. No oil change. No clutch change . Less moving parts means less chance of breakdown and costly repairs. I saw an article in UK newspaper- interwiev with nissan leaf taxi guy with 100 000 miles. So unless you are a tenager that's gonna crash it around the ev looks like a good choice to me. Especially if you have a driveway at you house.
hi , i have a 2003 mondeo 2L dura HE , i have a missfire after warm up , just done compretion test and pot 3 is down to 60p other pots at 120p, slight water loss , am i right to be heading towards head gasket ? Read more

This problem was discussed previously by French Paul but no solution stated. Car cuts out only when REDUCING speed i.e. for lights/junction, etc. That is, if I first accelerate to increase speed then change down a gear (or two) with enough time to decelerate to about 5-10mph in 2nd gear before needing to dip clutch and stop, then the car will tick over without cutting out. Otherwise it will cut out dead, needing the ignition key to be turned right off, then it usually starts up and ticks over as normal until next time.
What solved the problem French Paul, or anyone else who knows?... Read more
I have used ebay parts on my C5 and they have been OK, if not they are cheap enough to buy another one. If you peplace a part and the fault is still the same its unlukely that the part is faulty, they usually bering in some different fault. Worth a try anyway.

I hope the OP can get over the assault on his (or her) freedom of choice, even if the replies are well-meant.
In general, from a financial perspective it isn't usually a great idea to borrow for consumption - different if it's a money earning asset of course, but he already has one if that is the case....

Parking on a slight slope exaserbates this hightened sensitivity. If all else fails, whip out fuse 18 I think it is, from the rear fuse box and silence the darn thing.
