I bought a brand new Renault megane dynamique 1.6 petrol 4 years ago and it has just over 32000 miles on the clock. I recently changed jobs and wanted a run around for high miles up to 500 per week, I didn't fancy putting the miles on the megane so bought a yaris diesel which was going well until I crashed it last week and is up repairable.

I guess my question now is should I just use the megane to do the 500 miles a week (only getting around 37 mpg). Or should I buy another small diesel run around. Eventually I will change the megane to a diesel car of some sort, but am wondering if I will get value driving the megane now or selling it. It has very low mileage 8000 per year but this will dramatically increase if using it for work. Read more

Last year when I bought my 59 plate Skoda 1.9 tdi it passed the emissions test at 1.29, the pass being 3.00. This year, it passed again at 1.29, but the pass was 1.50, so have they reduced the pass by 1.50, or has the tester put the wrong figures in, even though I could see that it was my car on the computer screen

I checked last years print out to check this Read more

Forum Supagard

I bought my car under a year ago absolutely mint condition. Decided to get winter tyres and get them to apply Supagard inside and out.
They picked up my car and I got it back the next day. To my horror it was all scratched. When I called The dealership where I bought my car and whom I asked to apply the Supagard they said "oh but Supagard will enhance any scratches". I advised them that the car did not have any scratches on it before this and was noticed upon its return. I then asked them if the car had scratches on it and was going to enhance them why did you not come back to me and advise me that this was not a good idea.
Mmmmmm. Not happy. Has anyone else had this awful experience. Read more

Just about all cars come in various specifications to suit customers' fancies - and for the manufacturers to charge thousands extra for a better-equipped car costing only hundreds more to make.

Either yours is a lower spec model (GL, say, compared with Ghia) or the original owner of your friend's car added lots of optional extras.

I am usually very scathing about the nanny state in general, but I would vote for the principle of protecting children from tobacco smoke.

They aren't usually in a position to avoid it, or complain, and it is without doubt harmful. Opening a window doesn't remove it....
