I was driving down the motorway and all of a sudden noticed the car was juddering or jolting somewhat like it was loosing power momentarily. This has happened a few times in the last month but the problem seemed to clear itself up after a minute or so.
This time though the engine system fault indication light came on. As I was nearly home i carried on but the engine seemed to lack power. From what I could gather from pulling away at lights etc that there was something wrong with the turbo as it wasn't pulling with any power.
There was no limitation to the number of revs (i.e. under 1500rpm) that others haved suggested can happen if the car decides to go into "safe mode" almost.
I left it a little while and started the car a little later and it started fine and the light has gone out. I went out and everything seemed to be working fine and the turbo was now back and active. I blasted it down the motorway and again, there was no indication of any of the problems from the day before.
I was wondering if anyone has any previous experience of this? Could it be the clutch is on the way out? Something to do with the turbo? Fuel filter? Read more

I bought my car from a very small dealership. He didn't try and make me have finance either! I just googled 'car dealerships in xxxxx' and looked on Google maps for where they were. Then you can go on their websites and look at their stocklists.

Without doubt. The saving will be modest, the possible costs of repair - high. Look at all suitable cars ignoring the engine.
You're best looking for a good mainstream Japanese car (Avensis would be good for reliability) or a Mondeo (good for ease of parts and repair. Also consider the Octavia estate.

You can apply for a car tax refund online by completing Form V14 - this contains responses where a car has been registered/taxed in a company's name. Google 'car tax refund, and that will produce the relevant pages on Directgov. Presumably if the car purchase was made in the last month, all you will lose will be one months tax - provided you apply before the 1st day of the next month (ie June).
I was wondering if there was any feedback on the Autotrader Quick Sale method, specifically Transpact? Has anyone used this to sell their car and what were their experiences? Is it safe as a seller? Read more
Thanks, SouthendRunner. It seems that the Autotrader Quick Sale has only been running for a month or so, so I guess that explains why I've not been able to find any reviews about it, ot Transpact.

Hi
My Seat 1.9 TDi manual will go for it's 100k service soon and I want to know if it is necessary / good practice to replace the gearbox oil now? Or will a check and top up if required do just fine. There is no problem and it does not have a hard life, like pulling trailers etc. I'm more thinking preventative maintenance, but having said that I don't want to spend money if it's not really worth it.... I agree a good practice to change the gear oil, not great cost involved...probably 2 litres of good gear oil @£20 max, and half an hour max whilst its up on the lift.
I presume final drive runs in the same oil?
I dont know what it is called but there are two of them. little doors of flaps that are attached on eather side of the hard top cover. Dont know the part number or what they are called but one is broken. Any ideas on what they are called and where to buy a replacement? Read more
The op is referring to the flaps in the hard top that covers the hood when it's fully retracted .
I'm not sure what they're called ,but they are faulty on mine ,so it's probably a common fault .
Now that Saab has ceased trading the cars are appearing in local scrapyards .
So it should be possible to buy a set second hand.

I know this is an old post, but did you have any luck fixing the problem?
Thanks,
