nissan 100 nx - return a part exchange problem - bebop256

i part exchanged my nissan for another used car, but i found the car had a few faults.

the sun roof leaked and the alternator was faulty.

the dealer agreed that i could swap the car back for the one i part exchanged.

the car had no tax so he bought a 6 months tax which i paid for. now he wants me to give him back the car and i have to just give him the tax as well for nothing? because dealers can'tget a refund on car tax!

as far as i know this is true, but should i be liable since the main reason i want to return the car is because of the problems/

Can't you apply for the tax refund before handing the car back.

he bought the tax in the company name, not me.

You can apply for a car tax refund online by completing Form V14 - this contains responses where a car has been registered/taxed in a company's name. Google 'car tax refund, and that will produce the relevant pages on Directgov. Presumably if the car purchase was made in the last month, all you will lose will be one months tax - provided you apply before the 1st day of the next month (ie June).
