The Catalytic Converter Box on this car had a hole in it and the Fitment Centre said they could not weld the hole. The price of that Converter in South Africa is over 1,000 BrPds and the rear Silencer Box is 385 BrPds! They persuaded me to replace the whole exhaust system with two Universal Silencer Boxes and new Piping. My question is as follows: The Exhaust System now is terribly noisy and I believe that I must get them to put in a 3rd Silencer Box. Will these modifications affect the Engine and Fuel Economy? Hello, A WARNING to anyone who deals with Synergy Manchester the site is a scam. I lost £1975 last week. I was promised a car lease deal with a Mercedes C Class 220CDi. I transferred the money to Synergy as I had been dealing with a guy called James Morgan. I received an official order form and I now find the company is in Liquidation. According to Insolvency this company is not in Liquidation, it is run by a guy called ABDUAL QUDDAS and he has not made himself bankrupt it is all a SCAM. Insolvency say they cannot do anything. I have told Consumer Direct, they weren't particularly helpful. You cannot speak to Trading Standards as you have to go through Consumer Direct. Insolvency know all about this guy a number of people have got caught out like me, but nothing seems to be done. He will no doubt set up another professional looking website and start again. I know the above subject is a very general but i am hoping someone out there might have some idea of what is causing it as its driving me a bit mad in an otherwise lovely car. Basically its a noise coming from the rear passenger door. There are no speakers there and no air bags. Sounds like a rattle/knocking noise. All suspension is fine it sounds like its coming from the lock area although have not had the door card off yet. It only happens going over some bumps not all and seems to stop when driving with the door open although have not being able to test this for any major distance for obvisous.... Read more
Ahhh it was all going so well, many years of pleasurable driving in the super reliable Mazda (petrol) and then SMACK! It was killed by someone failing to notice that were all stationary on the M65 earlier this week.
But, so far, all is going well, by the end of the day the car had been picked up by my ins co's approved bodyshop, inspected and the quote for repairs passed to my ins co where they determined it to be a total loss.
So now just awaiting the fun of the discussion regarding the value of the car.
The other guys ins co have admitted full liability so with luck this should all be sorted within the next week.
I refused all offers of a loan car, the stories on HJ regarding credit hire scams had done their job! And I am already feeling fitter from the enforced cycle to/from work.
So far so good. Am impressed all round with the speed of response so far. Just that valuation next and then what car to buy next..... Read more

If the car doesn't move when the clutch pedal is released with the engine running, the clutch slipped and now feels very light, it may be that the diaphragm spring (which provides pressure to the clutch plate) has broken in a major way.

I replaced the transmission fluid at 23,000 miles, finding a fine brown sludge. Whilst I am no gearbox expert, I am afraid that what you have found looks serious and terminal. Our gearbox is now at 35,000 miles and is ok....

There is a lot of internet postings about cam belt failures with early K12 Micras (2003 on).
Was this problem fixed for later models? Did Nissan/Renault fit a different spec chain?... Read more
We had a 55 plate and had no problems. Dad has an 08 plate and has had no problems. Think it was the early K12 ones.

Hi, I dont know if it is a Zafira 'A' or any other letter! But it's a 54 plate diesel. Whilst driving, the turbo switches itself off. We notice a loss in acceleration power, it loses it's 'oomph'!! At the same time the engine management light comes on. If we turn off the engine, and back on again it corrects itself....until it decides to switch off again! I will take it to be fixed at a garage, but would like any advice you can give so I have an idea of what to expect! Thanks in advance. Read more
Unfortunately the Local manufacturers either don't respond or ask ridiculous prices like the Citroen Agents! Service is almost non-existant in South Africa these days.
