Ahhh it was all going so well, many years of pleasurable driving in the super reliable Mazda (petrol) and then SMACK! It was killed by someone failing to notice that were all stationary on the M65 earlier this week.
But, so far, all is going well, by the end of the day the car had been picked up by my ins co's approved bodyshop, inspected and the quote for repairs passed to my ins co where they determined it to be a total loss.
So now just awaiting the fun of the discussion regarding the value of the car.
The other guys ins co have admitted full liability so with luck this should all be sorted within the next week.
I refused all offers of a loan car, the stories on HJ regarding credit hire scams had done their job! And I am already feeling fitter from the enforced cycle to/from work.
So far so good. Am impressed all round with the speed of response so far. Just that valuation next and then what car to buy next..... Read more

If the car doesn't move when the clutch pedal is released with the engine running, the clutch slipped and now feels very light, it may be that the diaphragm spring (which provides pressure to the clutch plate) has broken in a major way.

Hello gwjl1980,
I replaced the transmission fluid at 23,000 miles, finding a fine brown sludge. Whilst I am no gearbox expert, I am afraid that what you have found looks serious and terminal. Our gearbox is now at 35,000 miles and is ok....

There is a lot of internet postings about cam belt failures with early K12 Micras (2003 on).
Was this problem fixed for later models? Did Nissan/Renault fit a different spec chain?... Read more
We had a 55 plate and had no problems. Dad has an 08 plate and has had no problems. Think it was the early K12 ones.

Hi, I dont know if it is a Zafira 'A' or any other letter! But it's a 54 plate diesel. Whilst driving, the turbo switches itself off. We notice a loss in acceleration power, it loses it's 'oomph'!! At the same time the engine management light comes on. If we turn off the engine, and back on again it corrects itself....until it decides to switch off again! I will take it to be fixed at a garage, but would like any advice you can give so I have an idea of what to expect! Thanks in advance. Read more

If the OP had substituted 'very nice car' for BMW or MB, I probably would have thought it was a genuine enquiry!
I bought winter tyres for the first time last winter, from Kwikfit and used their "tyre hotel" storage service for my summer tyres. On arranging to swap back to the summer tyres via their website, I find it is impossible to avoid being charged for a new set of valves, at a price of £19, even though I do not want them, as I did buy new valves when I bought the new winter tyres only last December. This is a second car and had only done about 1700 miles since the previous tyre change. I phoned Kwikfit and spoke to the Customer Services Manager, but he was adamant that the company policy is to always fit new valves at every tyre change and insisted they must fit new valves. At this rate, I will be forced to pay an additional £38 every year for valves I think I don't need. I think this is unreasonable. What is your opinion? (In order to get my tyres back I have already paid the extra £19) Read more
Without wishing to be patronising in any way, you don't need to consult a car forum to know that any locked-in deal will be designed for the benefit of the provider and not the user.
Wheels, 'phones, insurance - it's all the same....
hope you guys can help.. you actually seem to talk sense.. been looking for days!
I bought a car from dealer.. called him first confirmed over phone nothing wrong with the car at all (also stated in his advert, and on his website) travelled 140miles to the car to find a car sales in a field in someones back yard! overlooked it as had office etc, started the car no noises all looked mechanically sound, was what i thought was worrying noise coming from handbrake being released, he told me it was normal car had been parked up for a while (being a woman i thought ok fair enough) guy had brand new range rovers etc thought maybe this was a part ex.... If the guy has been convicted of murder ,he's out on license ,murder carries a mandatory life sentence .he can be recalled to prison at any time .you would have to wonder if he's committed a criminal offense in selling a dangerous car .
That would be enough to have him recalled to prison , in addition how did he manage to get access to a credit card machine ? The credit card companies are supposed to vet applications carefully , if he's using someone else's machine ,I'm sure the machines provider will refund your money ,it's a fraudulent transaction .
I know the above is all easy to suggest ,however this lunatic seems to be in a different league from the usual dodgy car dealer ,it's impossible to suggest a way forward ,you're the only person that knows how far you want to pursue the guy .
You still have the car ,perhaps you could part exchange it ,or sell it on e bay or through a local car auction .
Sorry I can't be more help
Regards

Best of luck with the XF: with luck you should have a car that will last a long time and be great to drive, with someone else having suffered horrendous depreciation. Nice for you to know that the Ovlov never let you down.
