Has anyone got an opinion on the BP Olymoic medalions? On the poster in the forecourt they all looked a bit cheesy and in real life at the cash desk looked deciedely tinny to me.

Do offers like this influence your choice of supplier?... Read more

I don't think the medallions are aimed at the driver, rather the kids sitting in the back. Morrisons are offering 12p off a litre when you spend £60 in store - that appeals to me, but their recent Disney sticker promotion was aimed at the kids of shoppers. Pester power.

That's all very well, but what if the young driver does in fact have an accident when insured with iKube? Answer, iKube will recover the entire cost of the claim by increasing the following year's premium. That's what happened to my son: his premium went up by £1800 in one go, which just happens to be the exact cost of the repairs following his accident. Furthermore, the new, higher premium will carry forward to next year. Even if he qualifies for a no-claims bonus next year (which obviously we hope he will), he will pay many hundreds of pounds more than if he hadn't had an accident last year. My advice to anyone who takes out insurance with iKube is don't have an accident (obviously) - but if you do, pay for it out of your own pocket, otherwise you'll end up paying for it several times over by paying massive premiums for the next five years. Hi jut bought this car 2days ago as my old car died, anyway. The car had been sat for just under 10 weeks unused with a cover over it but outside. All the discs had surface rust which after a few miles was quickly removed but the rear right continually makes a noise every rotation like a clicking noise the rust hasn't fully come of this disc and it appears to be wearing off unevenly. Is this likely to be a new caliper, pads and discs? :( Now under heavy braking there's a small shake through the steering wheel.

Question 2 When the car is sat and started all normal dash lights come on and go out like they should until you pull away and the Abs light comes on and won't go out until you swiitch off and back on again. Guy I got the car off said he bought the car like it 6years ago, but it passes Mot's as it goes out when its 1st started, will it still pass or does it need sorting to pass the next Mot?... Ok had the car looked at today, turns out the caliper was fine it was the pad slider had siezed on 1 side so the inside of the disc was being pushed out which was creating the wheel wobble under breaking. After some cleaning all works fine now. Abs light comes on only when u move above 5 mph comes on but the abs is working as slammed the brakes on a few times and no lock ups :) guy said in theory the car will pass a mot with the light on unless the testers in a bad mood... Mot not until November so have a little time to try and suss the fault...

Thanks

I like the new Suzuki Swift Sport, but it is only available in 2 door form in this country.

It is made in a 4 door in many other markets but Suzuki have no plans to introduce it in the UK.... Read more

Hiya everyone please can anyone confirm my diagnosis, or had similar problem. My car has been running fine and used daily. Today I drove approximately 10 miles and stopped to get a drink etc. The car was parked for about 15mins and when I tried to restart, it was completely dead. Not even enough power to turn engine over. The battery was totally flat. I had some help to bump start it and got home no problem after a drive around to try to put a bit of juice back into battery. While driving the "engine management light was on constantly (after it wouldnt start) I have put multi meter on battery which reads 12.7volts when not running, 14.4volts when running and a very strange 8.3 volts when the ignition is turned on but engine not running. This tells me the alternator is working as voltage goes up to 14.4 when engine running. Also when I just turn ignition on the is a relay (i think) that is clicking away like mad (possibly trying to power up the fuel pump) Not sure but im guessing at that. I assume relay may be doing that due to battery being flat. I think the battery is knackered but would like input off anyone out there who has any ideas? Im getting a new battery in morning but dont want to pay out 80 quid if its not the solution. Please help Read more

Certainly looks like the battery is deceased. The charging voltage is fine.Should be able to get a reasonable battery for less than £80.Vauxhall dealers have a good deal on batteries.hth

Hi

I have a 2008 Vauxhall Movano van which has had a number of faults since new, the worst being that since it was just a few months old I started to experience a shuddering motion when driving the van. The van has been back to the dealership and even to Vauxhall and they claim it to be a fault with the clutch but they have changed the clutch twice and this has not solved the problem. Vauxhall claim my van is the only case of the problem but having googled this issue this does not appear to be the case. Has anyone else experienced this problem and has anyone found out what the cause of the shuddering is or how it can be solved? Read more

Moved to Technical.

The Vauxhall Easytronic is one of the worst transmissions ever inflicted on the unsuspecting public, and you may well find that there's no cure except flogging the van and getting a Transit.
