Hi, I have an 03 diesel Ford Mondeo. I have read recent post concerning the charging light coming on and that doesn't bother me too much but recently I pulled up at a petrol station and when I came back to the car I had nothing, the car was dead. The girl in the garage had a battery tester and that said the battery was ok so we changed the battery in the key fob thinking that may have been a problem but it was ok. A mechanic popped in with his booster pack and as soon as it was on the terminals the car came to life. We had the battery tested and it was 12.1v idleing and 14.1 when being revved so was told it was ok but not amazing. Later that night the car was running and as I turned the lights on it died again. After we jumped it it was ok until the next day when I flashed a car and it died and I rolled to a stop. We have had the battery changed and is now 12.4v and 14.4v but as soon as the heated front screen turns on it drops drimaticly and the charging light comes on again. The alternator got changed before i bought the car last september but I dont think its a genuine Ford supplied part. As I say, Im not too worried about the light coming on, I just dont want it breaking down. Has anybody else had anything similar happen?? Martin. Read more

You are trying to start a diesel engine with a 9 year old battery! What do you expect?-just go buy a good quality new battery, how much longer do you expect it to last?
Recent mornings of cold weather has resulted in the handbrake of my two year old Volvo C30 sticking. No not the brake pads freezing onto the discs but the handbrake will not release. Later in the day when it has warmed up things are back to normal. Currently awaiting a call back from my dealer.
Any one else having problems. Read on a US Forum that it was a known problem, but no explanation.... Read more
I used to do that, but the missus would usually be the first to use the car and couldn't get her head round it, resulting in the car lurching forwards on the starter motor.
I'm sure that's why I had to buy a new starter motor.
Wont mention dealerships or cars as its not really relevant - but has anyone else found Honda to be pretty bad with Part Ex's.
Went armed with as much as I could, I am fully aware people can belive px is worth more than offerd.
Online Guides ranged from 3500-4300
Glasses came back at 3300-4300
Online Auction quote came back at 3650
Trip to Mazda franchise a px on a maxda (same cost as the Honda) - £4000
Trip to local supermarket (Same cost again as the Honda) - £3750
They offered £3000 and wouldnt budge, which was a bit of a shock as in the past Ive found franchise dealerships more flexible.
I even had them attempt to show me what we buy any car would offer as proof - which was funny as that came back with £3650.
Ive spoken to a few people I know with dealings with various Honda Garages have ahd the feedback that they were offered alot less than they finally got from another delaership/garage.
Needless to say I didnt buy and walked but makes me hesitant to try another Honda dealership.

Just of it was a common approach by Honda Dealerships, or if it was a one off.
Thus the thread really to see if others had found Honda dealerships to be less forthcoming with part ex’s...
I'm sorry I couldn't resist the heading. I'd rather have an Invitation than a Note!

Avant, your comment in this thread is my Favorit. I'm taking my friends Estelle and Fabia on a Rapid expedition, to find a Yeti.
There are always a lot of posts on here about the issues with modern diesels...
Since i'm looking at a nearly new Diesel myself, I wanted to clarify these issues.... Read more
pen, calculator & paper, works for me, though I only factor in nett purchase price and fuel costs, works for me though.
Otherwise simply too many imponderables unless for the fleet buying specialists.

Don't mention it to her or it's dinner in the dog and your sleeping in the kennel. Regards Peter
I have just had my wheel bearing replaced and after getting the car back, the central locking stopped working, no connection you would think.
The fob works, if I press the boot button it pops open, if I press the door unlock button the internal light comes on.... Read more
Is it just me or are the TV and printed media completely sensationalising a sprinkle of snow.
For the last 36 hours all I have heard is transport chaos, airport chaos. I saw a news article about the M40 where there was traffic driving over what looked like 1 cm of snow yeaterday, and this morning they were talking about the A1M in N Yorks and the road and countryside behond the reporter was virtually snow-free.... It always amazed me that people with fancy 4x4s and so on couldn't get to work,
Thats because the 4x4s these people own arent 4x4s at all. I saw a BMW X5 out in the slush earlier, i think i'll stick with the Pug.
Recently developed a flat spot of a second or three on acceleration from standing start and on putting your foot down generally. Once picked up runs fine and smooth. Gears and kickdown seem to work fine. Replaced plugs, air and fuel filter but made no difference
The car did not used to do this and it started recently - can anyone point me in the right direction as what to look at next.... Read more
Clean throtte body with carb cleaner.
Clean MAF sensor ditto....

The light coming on is telling you that there is something wrong.
Check the battery and if thats failed replace it, if not check the alternator - it may be faulty, and will need replacing. You may be able to get it replaced by the garage as some of them have a two year guarantee.
