The heater fan stopped working when the controller was set to no2. Some months later it stopped working when set to no4. Is this a repairable fault? And will it require the whole dash to come off and thus be disproportionately expensive? I had alook through the Megane threads and could only find one reference to this fault which at that time you were not able to answer. I am very happy with my Megane CC it has proved to be fun and reliable and this is the first annoying fault I have had. Read more

Before cars had al the modern electrickery it would have been a straightforward lack of output from the alternator, the only possible mechanical reason for it would be the belt slipping, other than that I don't have a clue.

Land Rover drivers are more likely to speed than boy racers, new research has revealed.

Over a quarter of Land Rover Discovery owners have been caught speeding on public roads, contrary to common wisdom that boy racers in hot hatchbacks are the most likely to be found speeding.

Research revealed that Citroen Saxo VTR drivers are worst for driving under the influence whilst Peugeot 106 GTI owners are least likely to comply with traffic lights. Stats also showed that Ford Galaxy Zetec owners are caught most often using their phones while driving.

The data, compiled from more than 4 million Confused.com insurance quotes, stretches back over the last five years. Information from each quote sent to the site made it possible to accumulate the total amount of offences for vehicles on UK roads.

I just remembered that per our current EC test regime, a Hybrid is allowed to commence the test with a fully charged battery, the battery charge may however be significently depleted by the end of the official test.

This "missing" energy is not taken into account....

What would cause both front brakes to seize when the engine is running? If i open thebleed nipple to release the pressure, the wheel frees up but without the bleed nipple open, the pistons wont push in. I thought it might be te servo but the rear wheels are fine which is really odd at as i beleive these cars operate a dual line braking system. Does anyone have any idea's where to look next? That's why I asked you to "Remove the vacuum pipe off the servo and run the engine.". Glad you've fixed it. Regards Peter

Hello all. I have a company car at the moment and am wanting to change to the company car allowance which will leave me about £500 a month when the insurance is taken out. I wanted to go for say an Audi A4 with their service including tyres option but this needs a large deposit and most other manufacturers also require large deposits. Is there a way around this and how do others fare ? I don't have enough spare cash for a deposit and so might have to stick with the company car.

Hi ,I've just watched the car chase from The film bullit on YouTube ,between the green mustang and the black dodge charger ,

The Styling on the dodge is amazing.

It must be thirty years old but it comes across as fresh as ever ,the soundtrack is amazing ,has their ever been a better car chase in a movie.

Hi

Is it possible to 'insure' against the DVLA messing up my driving licence (losing entitlements etc..) if I send it off for amendment? I want the 01 restriction removed (need to wear glasses) as I want to learn to ride a motorbike. This came about as I clicked the wrong box when upgrading to a photocard licence; I've always worn glasses but don't need to as I can easily read a number plate at 20.5 metres without glasses and would rather not wear them with a helmet. I rang the DVLA and they said they will issue a new photocard for free (!) but after all the publicity over their mistakes and people having to re-take tests etc.. I'm wary of sending it off.... How does this work? I have worn spectacles since I was 7 and cannot safely navigate the house without wearing them. Whenever I buy a new helmet ensuring I can comfortably and easilly put on/take off my spectacles is and always has been a top priority, the padding in some prevents it. Is there a new law that prevents me from wearing specatcles when wearing a helmet.

On one occation (when none of his stock was suitable) the salesman told me to cut the sides off and tie them on with a piece of string "they all do it sir"....

Hi, I recently bought a 08 plate vauxhall corsa from a private dealer with 41,000 miles on the clock. It was bought in mid November and I was given a MOT certificate detailing work which had been carried out including brake binding. Within a couple of weeks, the brakes were binding and I took it back to the garage who sorted out. Today I was out driving and the power steering intermittently failed, It took me totally by surprise and I almost crashed. I got the car recovered to a local garage and they have informed me that I need the steering column replaced, which is £1000 +. Is the garage I bought the car from liable for the repairs? I also took out an autoguard warranty, I shall be contacting them tomorrow though after reading the forums I'm not expecting too much from them! Read more

Is the garage I bought the car from liable for the repairs?

Almost certainly, although whether they will agree or not is a different matter. If they don't then you will need to go legal via small claims court....
