Finally spoke with the auto electrician.
He told me that water had penetrated the fuse box and caused some problems within the fuse box, which resulted in the battery blowing and the solenoid on the starter motor blowing. Although he did say he did not diagnose the solenoid problem. ...
My vehicle is fitted with the Nissan connect premium audio system that has a Hard drive Sat Nav system. It works great but is very out of date. Via a Nissan dealership I obtained a Navteq 2011 DVD update however when I try to instal it comes up with an unreadable message. Nissan cannot help or wont help and the dealership is likewise clueless. I understand this is a problem but surely there is a solution. The disc I have is a genuine supply and although I didn't have to pay these retail as circa £170. Advice welcome please Read more

Well for what it is worth, I have just taken delivery of a brand new mondeo estate as a company car.
I want / need something big as a I have to tow heavy stuff for work occasionally and also sail boats at the weekend (whilst having to transport a baby too and fro) all of which needs weight and room. I just do not want an MPV they're just not my thing (and due to having a weaker floor pan becasue of the clever seats the galaxy can tow less)....
Hi,
I need to replace the starter motor on my 1.8 TDCi 2004 Ford Focus but I can't find it.
The manual I have says the bolts should be below the air filter but I've taken it off and can't find them / see the starter motor.
Does anyone know where it is and how to get to it ?
Thanks Read more

It had a new clutch within 3 months, a new chrome trim for the gear knob cos it was so sharp it cut into my hand, new boot lock cos that jammed, new rear screen cos one of the heated lines broke, 2 turbo mods, a new vac pump, EGR valve cleaned out twice ( cos I asked them to) - found to be clogged solid with carbon. All done on warranty at a local dealership

who says that" It's generally accepted that modern diesels are not suitable for regular short journeys, at low speeds"
BBC Whatchdog programme recently featured an item on diesel Fiat 500s and Nissan Qashqais both of which are marketed as fuel effecient town cars but which are actually not suitable for city driving, There are also numerous threads on Honest John relating to ongoing problems with common rail diesel engined cars of all makes....

Hi MikeTorque, thanks for the reply.
We did try to turn the traction control ON/OFF via the TC switch, didn't work. Someone at my work told me that the ABS and Traction control unit were integrated, i feel that they did damage it, but how do you prove it....
My daughter received a call from this lot saying that her warranty had recently expired which we know to be false - the car has been in the family with various owners for years. Turns out this is a regular tactic. She would like to report them but who to?

Cheers for 'lifting the lid' on such operations although I'm certain most of us already had a good idea of the ethics existing in these professions....
