I live in West London and am surrounded by numerous Ford garages as part of a large chain. So I am restricted as to where I get my Ford serviced as regards price.Any Ford garages in or around M25 that have charged you reasonably for a service? Hi, My car failed its MOT on track rod ends and drop link. I have replaced the track rod ends but I can now hear a knocking occasionaly when driving or going over a bump. Does that mean the track rod end is not tight enough?
May sound a silly question but I cannot look at the car as its lashing down at present. It never made the sound beofre I changed them. The steering feels very light compared to what it did before, so would that be an indicator of them being not tight enough?... Read more

That's a droplink all right. Work out which side it is and swap that one (or just do both). Simple job and they don't cost much....
I bought this car with 54K on it. Its been ok, except that Ive had an ABS warning light on virtually since day 1. The garage replaced a sensor and it was ok for a month then it came on again. I replaced the other rear sonsor to no avail. I replaced all of them in the end and guess what, I wasted £175.00 and 4 hrs as the light is still on.

Hi - had the exact same thing happen recently to my 1995 Nissan QX. Part was £187 and had to be ordered in from Japan. Garage charged £380 all in to fit along with new belts. Snapped both the alternator and power steering belt when it went.
We took Tiddles to collect her new car on Friday past.
I had not harassed the salesman re delivery date, but when he phone me on Thurdsay to say the car was in, I checked regarding payment & insurance etc.... Read more

The Charade manual says valve clearances (0.2 mm) should be adjusted on a hot engine.
I find this a pain, since its a small engine and it cools down pretty quickly, especially in the howling chilly grit-laden gale that always seems to blow up when I have an engine open. IIRC all the other engines I've had except the last one (Sierra with hydraulic tappets) specified the clearances cold, which is a much more definate, non-moving target.... Read more

I did it again pretty much by the book, except I used the "cold" (engine rebuild) 0.15 mm feeler guage with a sharp kink in it to improve access. Sounds OK now...

It's a shame that this site does not allow non Iphone users to post using their phones, other forums I know of have a button saying IPhone Editior On/off and by selecting off, allows a non Iphone user to post.
Hi, just a quick question. Can anyone confirm whether or not the seats in the mk4 Mondeo Ghia and the Titanium are the same?
We test drove an '08 Ghia today and my girlfriend didn't like the seats nor the interior. I know the Titanium interior is a bit different but I'm not so sure about the seats. Read more
Titanium X is basically the old ST model, so I'd say the seats would be different to the "Grandpa" spec Ghia. The brochures seem to say the Titanium X has Sport Seats and the Ghia had no mention of sport seats.
