2004 Ford Focus 1.8TDCi - 2004 Ford Focus 1.8TDCi Starter Motor Location ? - NotQuiteSureWhatToPutHere

Hi,

I need to replace the starter motor on my 1.8 TDCi 2004 Ford Focus but I can't find it.

The manual I have says the bolts should be below the air filter but I've taken it off and can't find them / see the starter motor.

Does anyone know where it is and how to get to it ?

Thanks

It's a 30 minute garage job, best let them do it for you.

Yeah, if you can't find the starter, you're probably better off letting someone else do it.

In my old Mk1 TDCI the starter was low down the engine at the front, beneath the intercooler (remove corrugated bellows pipes, lastic ducting on top (two philips screws) and the IC itself (four 10mm bolts) and you'll be able to see the starter low down on the front of the engine, towards the RHS.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, I can see the starter now.

Is it easy enough to replace if I just jack up the car and support it ?

Thanks

That I don't know as I never had occasion to remove mine. Maybe a Haynes manual would be some use - I have one going cheap as my Focus has now gone (replaced with a Seat Leon which is rubbish, but that's another story...).

I'm looking for mine in a ford galaxy ghia 2.3 2002 reg. I suppose it's in the same place? If anyone can help I'd be a happy bunny.
