This car looks great. Its design is indeed clean, making it a very compelling Honda car. I look forward to seeing this car in person. Read more

Hi there at first during wet and damp conditions, my fan belt would make a squeely squeeky noise and when after driving it would quieten down. It did it again the other day but after a while the sound changed and I can't seem to figure out where it is coming from. My timing belt was changed last year and I have covered around 6k miles since then. I usually get around 60 odd mpg but recently on a long journey, or even shorter ones it has dropped about 10 mpg. Also this noise appears while driving after certain revs. My friend reckons there is an air leak or something near the Turbo. I have no excessive smoke coming from the back, as I have read the horror stories and the Turbo is kicking in, plus it does not look that old, maybe it was replaced before I had the car. But my friend thinks it's loosing power or not reaching it's peak but it's hard to tell with the noise we can here while driving, I also need to change the front wheel bearings, by the way can I do this my self, im a novice who sometimes likes to have a go.... Try checking the hoses from the turbo right through to the inlet manifold, see if you have any loose clips on the hoses, sometimes they come loose or are not tightened up properly and as the pressure is applied the hose comes off the mount,if it sounds like a sucking air in sound that may be what it is

Just a thought anyway

Anyway back to the noise, it is hard to describe sort of a vrrrrrrrrrrrrm and then fades at lower revs. I had the erg valve cleaned last year as my car lost power and spewed out black smoke. I have also changed the oil and filter my self a year ago after it was cleaned, I asked Renault about the recommended oil and they said any semi-sympathetic would do, I decided to go to GSF and get car lube as they said it was a goodoil. Followed by top ups with fully sympathetic, Renault actually told me I did not need it. Well anyway apart from replacing the fuel filter in which I intend to do, I have took note of the horror stories about turbos on the forums. Basically could it be the turbo on it's way out, is there anyway of telling. I do have oil around that area but I also over spilt oil while topping up. Could it be the ERG valve, the belt or something totally different? I have limited funds is it worth me buying a warranty in the hope of them fixing it. I can record the noise if need be. My friend who knows more about cars than me said it not the actual Turbo but more like a leak. Read more

I am sure I read an article ages ago regarding a fuel economy run that it was best to drive a car at it's torque speed in top gear. On my car this is 124bhp at 3200rpm which equates to a speed of 74mph. This is clearly too fast to be fuel economical and perhaps I have confused effeciency with economy. Is torque speed economical?

At the moment I am getting in the order of around 40mpg on a 200 mile round trip mainly on dual carriage roads and motorway travelling at 65-70 mph. I was hoping for more and have carried out all the advise as given on various sites on fuel economy. Going slower than 65mph runs me into trouble with HGVs.... Read more

40 mpg from a 2-litre petrol sounds good by any standards, particularly for a 16-year-old car. It would be poor for a diesel, but 2.0E sounds like a petrol.

Hi all, I have a 2006 meriva 1.7 diesel. The gear linkage is playing up. Is this easy to replace or does it need to go into a garage to be done?

Many thanks Read more

Not many no, but I can tell at the moment they are very, very high with quite a lot of cars fetching retail prices. There is a shortage of stock and prices have gone thorugh the roof in the last 2-3 weeks.

Hi, I am currently experiencing a technical fault with my Peugeot 307 HDI GLX. the car is going into limp mode in the mornings and will not let the rev's go above 2000rpm for about two miles and then clearing. I have taken the car to the garage who have said that its an air pressure sensor that is playing up. Three pressure sensors later and I still have the same problem. I have noted that the car is noisy when the problem is occuring and that the temperature outside is generally lower than 12 degrees. When the temp outside is higher than this i do not get the problem. The mechanic has said that its nothing to do with the temp at all and is due to the air flow only....can you help!!! Read more
