hi, hope someone can point me in the right direction. i've been told by the rac that i have fuel flow actuator fault. that's their code reading. there is no click from the fuel injection pump but there is one from the relay. i was hoping to fit one myself but i have no idea where it is on the fuel pump. i have a brown plastic electrical connection going to a metallic cylinder on the end of the pump with a flange in the shape of a butterfly that connects it to the pump and a green electrical connection going to a smaller brass bolt on the end of the pump. i thought i might just be able to recognise it but when i google the part it looks nothing like anything that i can see - it's more of a valve looking object with two wires coming from it. is it likely this would just fail. it just didn't start one morning... I have just been to Sainsburys for the shopping; I reached the jam/baking aisle and saw a woman letting a little girl dip her finger into a jar of peanut butter to taste it. Kid licks the finger, retastes, says 'eugh don't like it' and the woman put the jar back on the shelf and started to walk away!!!

I could not let this pass, and I wanted some honey, so I said 'is there anything else you've opened in this aisle that I should know about?' She flustered, the kid's face was a picture, and she said 'no...umm...no, I am buying this...I really should put this in the trolley....'... Read more

Sorry, Bobbin, but I've had to lock this thread because it was being hijacked. Thanks for your support, Jamie!

But I'm glad we were here to share your irritation!

Not exactly the same - I recently bought an unused registration from DVLA, the documentation was delivered 36 hours later - I transfered the registration the same day at the local DVLA office and the new V5 was delivered 11 days later.

Now look here you chaps. I just bought an 06 Grand Cherokee from a national dealer franchise (not a Jeep franchise) for what I thought was dashed reasonable money, about £8800. I've bought from them before and been very happy with prices and service (Parkers said the trade-in value for my Jeep was about £8500).

I didn't bother forensically examining the car before purchase (yes yes I know I should have) but the other day while driving I felt a draught on my right arm. I opened the door and at about elbow height the rubber seal has completely worn away/perished/both.... Read more

I have recently purchased a second hand Vauxhall Astra for which the garage who sold me the car has stated they have no service history. They are refusing to help so I am trying to get hold of information myself. I have tried the main dealer who originally sold the car, unfortunatley they don't have any details. I have also checked the MOT garages and they don't have any service history either. Can anyone help? Read more

How old is the car and the mileage?

harry55

Hi. I wonder if anyone knows what is happening here. Twice my car has lost power when accelerating. The dashboard lights up with the Engine Management Fault - Garage! and they yellow squiggle flashes. This has happened once on the motorway - very dangerous - and once this morning on a fast A road. However, on both occasions, when you restart the engine it is fine. The AA guy (motorway) could find no fault codes when he plugged in and rescanned the system (after clearing all the old faults). I then took it to a local garage but no faults were showing. After today's incident, I will take again to a local garage as the fault code should now be there. The car has recently had a full service. Is it the turbo? I am a layperson so any help before I go to the garage would be helpful. I have only had the car for 1 month. Thanks for your help here. I've just bought a one year old i10 from a dealer. The vehicle is very low mileage and was used by the dealer's umbrella company as a body shop courtesy car - it is literally in as new condition and everything is spot on except that the owners pack appears to have been lost.

So, no service record or owners handbook means I can't get the warranty transferred and may well have problems in the future with warranty claims and/or resale.... Read more

As you say in the UK the lifetime warranty after transfer is not quite the same a little invetigation shows that it is actually an insurance based gaurantee although be it a insurance company backed by GM.

Have you checked the fuses?

My wife was stopped yesterday and informed that her licence was revoked in 2008.
The police had no idea why and told her to contact dvla. They also said she was uninsured which is untrue as i myself set up the policy myself a few days ago as we've just changed our car.Her insurance certificate should be here tomorrow at the latest ,so showing the insurance tomorrow should be no problem.
We are not aware of any reason that her licence should be revoked and we're both worried as they seized the car and knowing dvla and how slow they are,it could take weeks to sort out, meanwhile the storage rate will soar at £25 a day and we'll lose the car altogether.
Any advice will be gratefully received.steve Read more

The 1st time my wife was stopped it was a so called routine stop with no problems with her driving being mentioned, the 2nd time was down to the insurer not updating the mid database throwing up a flag when she passed a traffic car with it's hi tech gear.

Peter she's contacting dvla on her way to work so i'll keep you all updated later on when she gets home..steve
