I have just bought a 2001 LDV Cub (same as Vanette Cargo/Nissan Serena) van with a slipping clutch :(
I have a customer with a workshop with four ramps who will let me use one (lucky I know) but just wanted to check there were no nasty surprises lurking for me when I change it.... Read more

Good afternoon!
The way I see it is most insurance sites ask for ANY motoring convictions in the last 5 years and Any claims in the last 5 years. It did used to be 3 years history they asked for, but for creaming a few more quid from us, increased to 5 years....
Hi GuysI am puzzling over whether there is any cut off for declaring speeding penalties when applying for a new insurance quotation.
I received a £60 fixed penalty for doing 38mph in a 30 zone back in April 2005. my license was endorsed back then but I believe you can have these endorsements removed after a time (3 or 5 years I'm not sure which) if you do not have any further speeding offences.I am planning to have this endorsement removed. I was wondering if I still have to declare it when applying for insurance even though technically the offence has now "lapsed"?... Read more
I thought speeding points were "spent" after 3 years, so need not then be declared ?
Most insurance companies ask for points to be declared up to 5 years, so you should now be able to forget them....
SWIMBO's Eos passes it's mot today :-) , but on the advisory was a note saying that all the tyres were "feathered" on the inside edge.
Had this last mot time. I had the wheel alingment checked, & found it within limits, with very minor adjustments required.... Read more
Could this be 'rubber' suspension mounts that have softened with age and are allowing the alignment to be pulled out whilst power's applied under normal cruise conditions?
Fair point Tom, many cars suffer quite quick suspension wear, hardly surprising the state of the third world urban roads, road calming assault courses etc....

The power steering racks on the Mondeo 2000-2007 are prone to failure, as a power steering company we see lots of them and usually the failure of the rack is intermittent to begin with and can eventually become permanent.
I am assuming that the pump you have used is good as these pumps are also prone to problems....
It has nearly 90000 on the clock and hasn't really been too much trouble over the years. Apart from a steering rack and a starter motor. More recently the turbo went 'pop' which after the repair we thought would mean that we'd be OK again for a few more thousand miles.
But on a local journey yesterday it started juddering and I noticed that the temperature needle was up to the 3/4 mark. I pulled over immediately, lifted the bonnet to cool it down. The temperature seemed to go down pretty quickly so I started off again. But it happened again shortly after, so I stopped again etc. Basically I 'nursed' it to the nearest petrol station where I checked the coolant level which appeared to be low, so I topped it up. But it still needed to be nursed (stop/start) home.... Read more
Quite likely the thermoststat.
hello can anyone help me please. I have just had a new sach dmf clutch kit fitted and since it has been done it has had a intermittent juddering at idle speed and when it is juddering there is a strange noise coming from gear box area and the way to stop it is by pressing the clutch or gently push it up to first gear without the clutch in or wait untill its been running a while and the juddering stops. I think it could be a faulty dmf but not sure. The noise dont sound like a typicle rattling dmf. And the car drives fine with plenty pull. Can you help me please. Any help would be appriciated. i have to agree with you about the flywheel and clutch, but my question to you is ..
why did you fit a new clutch and flywheel and was the symptoms you are experiencing there prior to the change, if so the fault could be the input shaft bearings on the gearbox.

Oops! I meant slide out gearbox, not slide out clutch
