Speeding Penalties - Insurance Quotation - arlowood

Sorry posted this in error in the Technical section

Hi Guys

I am puzzling over whether there is any cut off for declaring speeding penalties when applying for a new insurance quotation.

I received a £60 fixed penalty for doing 38mph in a 30 zone back in April 2005. my license was endorsed back then but I believe you can have these endorsements removed after a time (3 or 5 years I'm not sure which) if you do not have any further speeding offences.I am planning to have this endorsement removed. I was wondering if I still have to declare it when applying for insurance even though technically the offence has now "lapsed"?

Any advice out there?

Speeding Penalties - Insurance Quotation - leef

Good afternoon!

The way I see it is most insurance sites ask for ANY motoring convictions in the last 5 years and Any claims in the last 5 years. It did used to be 3 years history they asked for, but for creaming a few more quid from us, increased to 5 years.

As for your license, the points stay on the license for 3 years against you, you can can have them removed (for a fee of course!) after4 years... but as stated above, Mr Insurance man will wont know about for 5 years. I got a CU60 point code back in early 2007 and it still wallops my insurance now (my own fault!).

If you get done for death by dangerous driving, Being drunk at the wheel, failing to give a breath specimen etc. There against your 11 years.

Hope this helps

thanks
