My EV is off the road and I've been given a petrol car, can I claim fuel costs?

My electric vehicle has been involved in a no fault accident. I've been given a petrol equivalent but get just 30mpg. I've asked for an EV instead as I am caught in a parts supply issue with no idea when they'll arrive in the UK. I am awaiting a response even though it's now been a month since the accident. Can I collect petrol receipts and submit them as part of my claim against the third party? I charge my EV via my solar/battery system so really don't normally pay for refuelling my car.

You'll need to check the wording of your insurance policy. Unless it says you're entitled to an electric vehicle then unfortunately you won't be able to claim.
