Many moons ago I used to carry quite a selection of tools in the boot on the chance that my old cars would break down. Socket set, screw drivers, spare spark plug, monkey wrench, foot pump etc. Nowadays I carry nothing except the spare wheel and jack.
What tools do you guys now carry around? Read more
Got the usual probelm of the heater blower playing up on my Focus, from perusing the web, it appears that the resistor pack shorts out leaving the thing on it's default full blast setting, however, mine only works on position 3, all the others are dead, plus, whenever you do switch on to 3, it goes quick and slows down after a second or two, I'd like to know if this tallies with a blown resistor or switch before I shell out for the wrong part! Can anyone help!? I had a car accident last week, whilst slowing to turn on a sharp bend I attempted to change down gear in my car, and the clutch failed and gears would not change, to be honest I panicked and just kept thumping foot on clutch that was on the floor putting up no resistance.... and then bang into wall.
So I have contacted insurer, had a claims investigator come out, and engineer on behalf of insurance company has viewed car, I have not seen the car, cannot get to speak to anyone to tell me where the car has been moved to. The only contact I have had was one phonecall from investigator who has told me that the engineer says that clutch would not simlpy have went and after further investigation they believe that the clutch cable was disconnected by someone!?!... Hi Guys
the insurer has agreed to offer a settlement as car has been written off, but they are deducting the cost and labour for a new clutch, so the offer I was advised isn't what I'm getting but they have said it is subject to my £250 excess? OMG I know I sound like a dumb female driver, but does that mean they are going to take a further £250 from my offer? there is no way I will even be able to buy a new car then?! Basically they have offered me £1175 for the car however I was advised allowing the deduction for the clutch not to settle for anything less than £1300 as the car had low mileage and was otherwise in good condition. Its a 206 1.4LX late 2002, with 76000 miles. I'm freaking out again sorry any advice guys?...
engine is making a tapping/clicking sound and the engine management light has just come on...............any ideas what the problem is and how much it will cost? Read more
If you only bought it, take it back to the vendor to fix it.
My 2008 registered car failed it's 1st mot yesterday. The garage stated it required new discs and pads. As the car has done only 27000 mls can you tell me if this is normal for a three year old car with this mileage. I really feel it's quite excessive as I had a vauxhall vectra with 65,000 mls on the clock and the original discs and never had any problem passing an mot. Read more
Some garages treat 'discs 'n' pads' as a nice little money spinner. My previous MOT garage tried that trick with me-once. I didn't go back.
I don't think driving excessively carefully is particularly good for brake life. The discs rust and quickly get scored. If slowing to a halt I'll often push the clutch in, so I can get the brakes good and hot without wasting fuel. Brakes and pads still good after 50,000 miles....
Has anyone heard when the A1 Sportback will be launched, and when the order book will open for business? or is it just a rumour. Read more
I have it on very good authority that the A1 Sportback will be opened for ordering in March 2012.

BMW are a very expensive car when they go wrong and they go wrong big style the only place is a main agents because you will probably see a lot of him and the waiting rooms give nice coffee.
I think we do and the problem will become worse as vehicles seem to be growing in size with each new model released,a lot of drivers find it difficult to stay on their side of the line on a narrow country lane as i frequently find out taking evasive action to avoid a kamikaze attempt on me,bad driving is another thing altogether but the lack of width especially with larger vehicles on a lot of roads old and new does not help the situation. "As has been said you will not eliminate the bad drivers" but hopefully the new insurance regs just in force will help...

LOL Bilboman!
I've got a coffee mug that says something like 'don't annoy me - I'm running out of places to hide the bodies'....
