Any idea why the above lights keep coming on every now and again and go out when I pull off? My local indie MB man just wants to change the brake switch all the time. I have noticed also that when this occurs in traffic that the brake travel seems to go further under my foot and every now and again there is a graunching noise when I pull off.

Hi - did you ever find out what the problem was? My ML270 has just started doing this. Most of the time its fine. Randomly I get the BAS ETC EPC etc lights on an the grunching noise when pulling away - almost as though the brakes are still applied. Pads are fine and the servo is 6 months old after the last one developed a hiss.
Any info appreciated. Thanks
Hi I took my rover 45 to a garage as the cylinder head had gone. When the part was skimmer it was apparently warped, he said he would try and seal it anyway. It would not seal and recommended a new engine. I agreed to this. Garage had car for three weeks promising 10 days in a row it would be ready then not. i was assured he didn't want to return vehicle because it was under 3 month warranty and did not want it to need to come back as he would have to fix it for nothing. I picked the car up at 11am, was told that he'd had to jump start it that morning but the drive home would charge it. Got home car would not start.. Jump started vehicle to go buy new battery. Mechanic who was going to fit battery said there was nothing wrong with it. Contacted garage and told them this, was instructed to return vehicle and they would fit a new engine. Four days later engine had been returned to breakers yard where it had been purchased and they would check it. Next correspondence was that engine was running fine with they're gearbox and starter and they had requested that my mechanic remove gearbox and starter from rover to go to yard and check them I'm now told today gearbox and starter are faulty and they can repair for £385. That is with them paying for half the cost of parts due to inconvenience. Or can get car back but will charge £200 for removing gearbox etc. this car was returned under assumption that it was under warranty. Is there a regulatory body I can ask to investigate this? Does this all sound a bit fishy!! Read more
think it is a rip off,03 rover not worth those repair costs your paying

You dont try and seal these heads to the block it just doesnt work,in my opinion they didnt skim it as it wouldnt be worth the time and effort, you just replace the head/engine.
But it does sound like they did not know what they were doing(assuming they did anything apart from look at it) IMO yes you are being ripped of and would suggest getting someone to fit a recon unit/one from a scrap yard some do the job at a reasonable price but its a case of shopping around
I bought a fantastic little 323 last Christmas as a 'tide me over' car while mine was off the road. In almost as new condition and less than 60,000 miles I cant bear to let it go but I need some odd bits for it like a seatbelt stalk and rear hatch gas struts. I cant get either parts new or after market so was wondering if anyone knew of a classic Jap club or breaker here or abroad?
Many Thanks! Stuart Read more
I got s/hand spares for a '92 Corolla from them only a few years ago!
I have seen a 2002 1.4 tdci ford fusion at a local indie dealer. He had literally just received it in and had not valeted it etc...
He gave me the keys to fire it up and, well, I was almost knocked out by the fumes inside the car. Now, having been considering diesel fiesta and fusions I was aware of what the problem might be immediately: Injector Seals.... Read more
OK, I've stopped gnashing my teeth about insurance! Adrian Flux recommended a 1972 Beetle for low insurance so we're now thinking about this or an old Mini. Which one is better as in reliability, cost of servicing and parts etc?
My son has just spotted an old Hillman down the road for sale so is looking for quotes for that, bless. Read more
I've had three Beetles the 1200cc ones.Agree about the heating channels and rust under the battey in the cabin.I have still seen some nice ones around the Beetle has a flat floorpan.Engines are easy to look after plugs points oil change are straightforward.Engines are very strong the 1500 cc was the best model later 1303 where more prone to problems due to emission controls. They have a 4 speed gearbox 3rd gear is mostly used in town.Top speed is cruising speed about 70mph.The Beetle is stonger than the mini and heavier. The three i've had done over 120 thousand miles..Reguar oil changes are essential. Also had a mini nice little runabout stilled preferrred the Beetle.
I want to install a set of DRL's. I want them to come on with the ignition and turn off when the sidelights are on.
Can anyone tell me which type of relay I need and help with a wiring diagram? Read more

QUOTE:...""The ordinary peoples cars were, quite frankly, rubbish. Morris 1000, wheels fell off on corners and they are a classic ? ""
But at least at the time BMC / BL cars were no worse than contemporary offerings from Renault or Fiat and technically they were superior to VW's Beetle and its derivatives. VW survived only by having unrivalled quality control. Bad cars made well, as it were.
