I live in the Alps and drive over very rough, unmade mountain roads. I hit a large stone (I was looking at the spectacular view) and head that horrible grating sound.

The exhaust started to make a loud burbling sound at low speed. As I was looking for a newer car someone suggested I look on Gumtree, a site I've never visited before.

Most of the ads seemed to be written in very poor english, and/or have "leaving country quick sale needed" or even more suspicious "phone XXX our land line is under some maintenance" or full of other dodgy sounding phrases or descriptions "is an import much spec"... Read more

Gumtree is free to advertise on so you'll often find spam and cons, as people dont need to submit credit card details/ID to post things.

Can you give us an example mate? Post us a couple of links to ones you're talking about?
