Recently noticed a starting problem.
When the car is started from cold - for example first thing in the morning, or in the evening after work, it starts first time. No problems. But if I start it again 15 mins, or half an hour after a journey, it 'chokes' - and only starts at the 3rd or 4th attempt. The choking sound is difficult to describe, but it sounds a bit like a single prolonged cough - which then dies. Only seems to happen when the engine is still warm. When cold, it starts just fine. Hi, i've had a grinding noise when reversing on partial or full lock coming from the front. I changed offside driveshaft thinking this was it but no different. I inspected nearside driveshaft but this looks ok as far as i know ie. not much play in it. Only seems to happen in reverse, apart from that drives ok. Does anyone have any ideas. I've experienced similar when I've had a small stone stuck between a disc splash-shield and the disc.
You need to identify the corner, then jack it up, get the wheel off and find the problem.

right got a 1.1 with a suspect blown HG! anyway turned out to just be the roker cover vertually none exsistant around the back of the engine so oil was being p***ed out everywhere from it!... Read more

I cannot believe that a family being butchered in Itamar, Israel does not deserve ANY news coverage. If you look at the BBC website, the only mention of Israel is to do with building houses in "settlements".
As members of a democratic civilised country, we individually tend to be quite pathetic in getting our voices heard. PLEASE complain to the BBC about the soft imagery "killed by an intruder" (as if some bungled burglary) rather than the LA Times words of "family butchered".
It is shocking that a 3 month old baby was murdered along with 2 other children and now 3 children are left as orphans after their parents were murdered. Please do not ignore this request and show you value the democratic civilised values that perhaps we take too much for granted. Let the BBC know that all they are achieving is skewering the world's opinion against Israel.

Please consider the the amount of Palestinians that have been, and continue to be 'butchered' by the USraelis over the decades, and how USrael is a powerful military power in the region where as Gaza (in particular) doesn't have an air force, a navy, a nuclear weapon, or helicopter gunships like the Apache etc.
Any loss of life is very, very sad.

The car recently had problems with reversing lights and sensors and went into a Saab main dealer, who replaced some of the wiring loom. Since then I have had problems starting the car. I have used jump leads to some effect but after a short run and standing for 24 hours the car does not start. The battery has been checked and it is apparently OK but it is draining power somewhere and I don't know where the problem lies. Now even after a longer run it is very difficult to start even using jump leads. Any suggestions ? Read more
You need to disconnect one battery terminal and connect an amp meter between the removed terminal and the battery, if you have a current flow of more than say 100m/a then you have excessive current draw, make sure nothing is on including interior lights, if you have more than that, remove one fuse at a time until the current drops then check your handbook to see what that fuse powers. If you have a drawer of less than 100 ma I would suspect your battery has low capacity.

not loosing fluid,mite have had dodgy fluid put in,notsure thou would this ruin master cylinder rubbers.thanks

Sorry about that omission - its a petrol engine (1.4L, unleaded '95) and the car is from June 1997 (phase II) with a fuel injector.
