Clutch drag caused by excessive movment in a failing DMF? But Toyota will probably deny this and say it's your driving. A Tech will take you for a spin to prove this. He will change gears slower than your grandad and tell you "nothing is wrong, Toyotas don't go wrong, they are bullet proof". My Toyota Main Dealer have written to me to tell me they do not have the expertise to diagnose what's causing my same symptoms because it's a Lexus (a car with a Toyota desel engine, cutch and gearbox! [yes the gearbox really is]. As the Transmission specialist said [about Main Dealers] - "They're just about OK for oil changes! Premises look good though and their staff wear shirt and trousers not dirty overalls"

I have a 2009 KIA Ceed Sport 2litre diesel with 17” alloy wheels. It has done a little less than 17,000 from new. I have a couple of problems that I would like your opinion on.

The car was fitted with Michelin 225/45 R17 91W tyres and the front ones need replacing. KIA tell me they are soft tyres and wear quickly. (the rear tyres are fine) I have seen a road test on the net which scrubbed the front tyres at 14, 600 miles. KIA told me to put ‘harder’ tyres on. I’m wondering which tyres you would advise for improved wear and improved fuel consumption.... Read more

I reckon 17000 miles is a good result on the front of quite a powerful car.

On my Passat I swop the front to the back after about 9000 miles, so I usually need a new set at 18000 miles. I prefer to buy 4 tyres together, I like the same make. The car came on Dunlop 200Es, they were terrible in the wet,. Since then I've had Continental Premium 2s and Pirelli P7s. There is nothing between them, they are very good.

just purchased 2010 focus 1.6 zetec 15,000 miles on clock.

Engine management light flashing on and off, accelerating to 80 miles per hour a no go. Car went in the garage and replaced with new sensor, set off from garage 5 minute journey via motorway and light came on again and won't let me hit 80 mph. Any ideas because ford don't seem to know?... Read more

sounds like a typical Fix Or Repair Daily, try the cam sensor, faults but does not show code.

Mys wifes Focus, sometimes has a problem with the front screen heater and rear not working, rear wiper sometimes does not work and the heater works only on number 4. which a auto engineer advised was the resistor pack, which I replaced with a new one, but after a week it stopped working again. They also said the emu was the fault with the other issues. I now believe that he meant body control unit. Can anyone suggest where I can get a replacement unit from, how much and are they easy to fit Read more

ForumNeedsModerating

It seems unlikely a 'body control unit' has much to do with a heating or wipers - that sounds more like ESP territory - unless your phrasing is inaccurate.

I'd suggest taking your car to proper Ford garage, rather than getting (it seems) rather vague & unhelpful information as you have done so far from the 'auto engineer' - you could end replacing everything with that approach!

I was involved in a rear end shunt, the girl that was involved said that there was no damage to her car at the side of the road and didnt even leave me her name or number. I was going no more than 20mph, she slammed on her breaks on a slip road to a dual carrigeway. She took my mobile number but said there was no damage to her car. I went to check my car out and by the time i turned back round she had driven off!
She has now called 26hours after listing minor imperfections which could have no relation to a rear end shunt(apart from a scratch on the bumper). Is there legal implcations for me if i want to see her car and want to avoid going through insurance. I am fully insured and have a full drivers licence.
I realise that if you go into the back of someone the insurance company pretty much says no contest, but i am not the lead driver on the policy and the lead driver is looking at loosing all their no claims.

I need good advice here. I'm not trying to get out of anything, but she is claiming that i cracked her front windscreen, and knocked the front tracking out, and one scratch to the back bumper. Everyone i know says that she is trying to take me for a ride.... Read more

This driver is being thoroughly dishonest and is abusing the situation. You need to deal with her in an assertive and stern manner, sooner rather than later.

Tell her that you do not accept that the damage present on her vehicle was caused by the accident, and that you suspect her vehicle was unroadworthy at the time of the incident occuring. Tell her that you suspect that she is attempting to commit fraud, and that you are considering contacting the Police to report the matter, you will also report that she failed to provide you with her details and that she left the scene of the accident before you were able to inspect her vehicle, which you believe was a deliberate attempt to conceal the clearly unroadworthy condition of her car. Ask her to provide a full, signed list of any and all damage which she considers that you were responsible for, along with photographs of the vehicle, so that you can also provide this to the Police and to your insurers. If she wishes to proceed, point out that you will deal with it only through YOUR insurer but will also report it to the Police....

been trying to get a response from ford uk about a power steering pump that broke after it was replaced only a year ago and only done 4500 miles in that year. the dealership manager said it was odd to have done so and he tried to contact ford uk himself because the part was only 9 days out of warranty by the time the dealership said what was wrong. he got no response from ford uk and suggested i contact them instead. got the brush off from them- they going on a bout the car being 50 month out of warranty, which is hardly related to the part being one year old. the would not commit and i have written to them three times- they have sent same letter to me twice and now have gone quite. decided to write to the customer services at the dealership after trading standards suggested i do so. that was 3 and half weeks ago and nothing has been replied to me. i have looked at various sites and picked up that ford have modified the pipe to the power steering pump to save recalls and there is a design fault. can anyone confirm this and can you suggest what we do next please Read more

I agree with Lucy re dealer's offer. As the part is out of manufacturer's warranty, any contribution made is purely on a goodwill basis.

It should be noted that your contribution of say 50% will give you a further 12 month warranty on the new pas pump....
