Sorry folks, more questions than answers at the moment.

I've done it before but can't remember the terminology. Last time I changed cars Direct Line insured the new car AND the old car for a limited period while it was sold for no additional cost. The operator mentioned what it was called and implied that not all the operators knew the facility existed.... Read more

Thanks Dealer10, its a long story but I will only be with DL for a short time longer. I got an SP50 just before Christmas (60mph in the 50mph zone just before the toll booths on the severn bridge) and my premium has gone up 45%. Caused me to look around and I can get far far cheaper SP50 or not.

Thanks again, FTF.

Can someone please tell me how I can remove the glovebox in my Citreon Xantia (Jan 1998). Haynes says to "release the securing tang at the rear of the lid, and fully open the lid." then "Unscrew the securing screws, and withdraw the glovebox assembly" . But as far as I can see, the "tang" is part of the glovebox moulding, and so cannot be removed. Read more

Hi, I have just had my 07 astra 1.9 serviced at a local garage (80k miles), and the fuel economy has dropped from 48 ish mpg down to 40mpg. I have contacted the garage and they say they have only changed the oil and all the filters as per service schedule. Can antone think of anything obvious that could have caused this !! I have filled the car up a couple of times and reset the trip computer but no change, still 40 mpg.

Does your vehicle have the euro 4 fitted fluid charged particulate filter on it? If your not sure have a look underneath and see if the l;arge under car exhaust box has 2 small pipes running to it, similar size to brake lines. If it does then it has the filter Im talking about. This system causes poor MPG when it needs recharging. To recharge it you simply drive 30 miles at 50 mph in the highest gear possible. That give the vehicle a constant to work off so it can recharge the system. A friends car was the same, one garage quoted over a garnd to fit a new filter!! Main dealer told him to do the constant drive thing.

hi was wondering if any can help, i have a 2002 2.0 hdi 8 valve peugeot 307 sw estate

and the car doesn't appear to rev right, what happens is when you start the car up you can rev it straight up to 6000 rpm but after about 10 seconds the engine struggles to rev and seems to limit its self to 2500 rpm, the car has had all new filters and a complete service by a peugeot garage and they have also scanned the car with diagnostic machine and have nothing wrong, when the car limits its self if you keep the accelerator on the floor for roughly 1-2 mins it starts to smoke(blue and black) but it will clear and rev ok for a minute but the goes back into limit mode just wondered if any one had any ideas thanks mark Read more

Was thinking today, if it is possible to run a car on vegetable oil (with or without also having separate diesel tank), why is no one producing / selling new cars that can do this?... Read more

you are right and when the government add a crippling extra super energy tax on top of the standard energy bill to pay for there folly its a bit painfull. If only they spent the money on waste gas plants and water.

I would be amazed if it wasn't. The old model had a dual mass flywheel.

I'm buying a house on a main road. There are traffic lights about 30 yards away and the white zigzag lines run along in front of this house.

Obviously i will need a dropped kerb before getting permission for a drive way. BUT do you think the local highway agency will give me permission for a dropped kerb seeing as there are zig zag lines in front of the property?... Read more

Tell them if they dont allow it then you'll park on the road in everybodies way. If they do allow it you wont be in everybodies way. End of.
