I have a Skoda Octavia 2 (2005)TDI with 32,000 miles. I have had driveshaft gaiter failures 3 times in 4 years at MOT time. The first was at 3 years old and 17,300 miles. Are Skoda gaiters less reliable than previously? I had a Vauxhall for 10 years and 115,000 miles with no problems also an Escort for 6 years and 75,000 miles and no gaiter problems. In fact, I have had no gaiter problems with ANY car until this Octavia. Does anyone know the reason for this please? My wife has a Seat Leon TDI 2002 with 50,000 miles and has had no problem. Thanks. Xsara Picasso 1.8 petrol.
I ran one doing 500+ miles a week (on LPG) for three years, massively practical, very cheap to run. Cheap to insure, tyres cheap, exhaust cheap, non dealer servicing , all round economy motoring.
Hi
Can anyone help ive just taken my car to the dealership because of lights warning me of headlight failure that keep coming up on my satnav display they have told me that the unit in the footwell needs replacing my car is under warranty with the company i bought the car from so the £600 for the unit didnt upset me as i wasnt paying but bmw then rang me to say that they cant update the computer to accept the new unit as an error keeps coming up that says basically i need a CD Autochanger (£505) fitted now when i bought the car it was second hand 57plate and didnt have a CD Autochanger just the basic radio cd ive since checked and i know they come prepared for a autochanger but why do i have to have one fitted just so the new unit that is being fitted will work this is costing me over £600 of my own money just so i can keep the warning lights from coming up on my Satnav Bmw told me i need to have the unit replaced as it controls all the lights and windscreen wipers etc on the car and if i dont have it replaced more problems will occur i find this amazing that i have to buy a Cd autochanger just so it will work as it should and the computer will accept it... Sorry,my sons new BMW has changed both the radio and added a cd changer Sony I think but he reassures me you can buy a convertor here in Germany to add a non standard CD changer. But having talked to him about the problem above he agrees with you the BMW agents are talking absolute rubbish he thought I was winding him up.
I have a V reg Peugeot 306 LX and have been told i need a new cooling fan motor, however being unable to strip it myself i am not sure what sort i will need. I have narrowed it down to one in a plastic surround which i think is either an ecia or gate manufacturer. It has been to the garage and there is no make or manufacturer on it. Is there any way to distinguish which make it is? Thanks in advance! Read more

Nothing to remove - partnership disolved, but another local quango will take it over, probably employing the same people for more money.
It happened round here - "xxx speed camera partnership" becomes "safer roads xxx". They won't lose the income stream.
