I bought this escort 1.6 si " n " reg as a non runner due to water pump & thermostat needed changing, i have replaced the water pump, cam belt, drive belt, spark plugs, made sure the engine was in line for tdc properly but it will not start, it is a low miliege car with 68,000 very genuine miles and owned by an old dear from new. any help on this would be much appreciated ? I have a 2004 Daihatsu Charade SL which I've had for nearly 6 years. A few months back, the alternator belt started to squeak. A temporary fix was a squirt of WD40, but I then had a new belt put on (proper Daihatsu part) as the sound quickly came back. All was well for about a month. Recently, the belt has started squeaking when the battery is under load (especially when engine cold and the lights are on). As revs increase, the sound disappears.... Read more

I've found pudles of engine coolant in the footwells and in all of the air vents. I'm assuming that the heater matrix has either sprung a leak or become disconnected.

Heater matrix replacement is a major job on these.Complete dash and heater box have to be removed.I think a good rad sealant is worth a try.hth

What a stirling job they were doing! Artic Driver nearly 3 times over the limit! how many could he of killed ! HGV driver without a licence ! I take my hat off to PC Angus Mcnairn, he has a nose for the job. Interesting that the driver without a licence had been to the VOSA check point before but no one had picked up that he didn't have a licence ! May be VOSA need more access to more info ?

Westpig - well yes, maybe it was the CPS that pulled it. That's worthy of a challenge in itself - if 2 officers saw it then there's absolutely no need to show the court the device used. It's their evidence, as you know, that the mags consider. Not a good CPS decision if that's the case - they're acting as a court themselves. I suppose we could start seizing the phones utilising sec 19. There'd be uproar! As for 'arrestable', yes everything is if the justification is there but there have been some challenges. Necessity is the key. I can't see an arrest for DOAWL being good if the driver's address is known.

Parts are new and coded. I dont know about intank pump , sensors and pressure switch. Computer shows no faults.

Hi Robert, How did you get on with your Sharan. Have just acquired one, but it's failing to start, not getting fuel to the filter and FIP. Did you need to change relays etc ?

hi, yes they are in right order as the ignition pack is numbered to make it easier and i labeled the leads before taking them out
