Hi,
I have a petrol primera with 150k miles. It continues to run very well except for a power dip of some sort around 3750 rpm.

When accelerating in say 3rd gear, the car will accelerate smoothly up to this point, then the power seems to dip for a split second and then push on again past this point.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?

Many thanks,

Hi Primera97,
I had a quick look at that site and it sounds promising. Many thanks for your help.

Do you always adjust mirrors (especially kerbside one to check distance from kerbs) or prefer to use your judgment only while parking?

I have my mirrors adjusted so that there are no blind spots when looking for traffic in adjacent lanes (i.e. sides of car not normally visible)

I find they also work for parking if I move my head a bit; it's a lot quicker and easier than moving the mirrors.

Hi, am wondering if anyone can help? My rear middle seat is stuck in the down position due to the seat belt which wont budge!!

We've tried taking the back off the seat but special tools are required to get to the mechanism and I don't know whether to invest in the tools or just take it in to a dealer???

Any thoughts out there??

Much obliged,

Not sure what you mean by middle seat, there is a left and right seat back?

The middle seat belt will not operate unless the left hand (near side) seat back is located properly, if you can try slamming this back.

A colleague of mine is leaving her job and moving abroad. So as well as everything else she wants to sell her car. It's a 2006 Astra 1.6 Club, with 12,000 miles on it.
There is no point in a trade in as she doesn't need another car in the UK. She does however need to sell it as close to when she leaves as possible which is early December. So that is the main issue, no point in selling now if she needs it and it's too much of a risk to put it in Autotrader or ebay the week before she goes as there is no guarantee of a sale.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Read more

The important thing is to get the price right. As long as she's expecting £5000 you'll sell it subject to collection in December. As long as colour and condition OK.

It's not selling the car that takes the time, it's getting the price right.

How much is she expecting for the car?

hi,
a motorcyclist crashed into me while i was making a right turn last week. assumed it was his fault as i was clearly indicating etc and he came belting up the middle of the road.
just opened the post to find a letter from one of those ambulance chasing law companied claiming for damages, as apparently i was turning right into a no right turn junction (not technically a junction but a forecourt), which i obviously wasnt aware of. so now what - am i even insured for making a no right turn?? is this some sort of criminal offence - whats going to happen to me, wail??!! Hi,

the airbag ecu should be held on by three 10mm nuts which are fairly easy to access..

and even better, provided the "new" ecu was taken from another car which had not deployed any airbags then once you turn on the ignition, the light should go out..

Hi,

I've been thinking about selling my car recently. But it depends on the outcome of a situation. However, if I do sell it I'd like to do it quickly.

I've noticed a few sites advertising, including one on TV now. Has anyone got any advice or recommendations?

Wherever you sell it, as PU says, its setting the right price that will get rid of it the quickest - be reaslistic!

My last one went on the first day on Autotrader btw!

My A4 has developed a problem with dash lighting and instrument panel. On start-up the instrument dials flicker on and off (Together with dash lighting if lights are on) for a few minutes then the problem goes away and all instrumentation works as normal .All instrument dials are affected and on some occasions the trip meter and clock re-set themselves to default. The car is usually garaged overnight however when the car is left outside overnight the problem appears worse. It seems that there is a loose connection somewhere however because the problem rectifies itself after a few minutes running I think this rules that out....... has anybody got any thoughts on this??? ... thanks Read more

If your dash panel vent lights and cigarette lighter also flash I would suspect the S233 fuse may be cracked/badlet seated or the dimmer control has a problem. Regards Peter

Those don't make sense. They should be P0xxx or P1/2xxx.

Maybe they are in hexadecimal format - what do they work out to when converted back to decimal from base 16?
