Three weeks ago a replacement alternator and new battery were fitted and yesterday the remote refused to work although it had a new battery 2 years (8000 miles) ago. The key will only work in the driver's door and sometimes the offside rear door does not unlock. The remote played up about 2 years ago hence the new remote battery (which made no difference) but when the weather got warmer the whole thing returned to normal although it locked me in once with grand children on board. Any advice would be welcomed. Total mileage 122,000. Read more

I am pleased with my new Mondeo 2.0 diesel estate, but the only issue I have is, with the sports pack and low profile tyres, the handling sometimes seems difficult. The car sometimes, but not always, pulls to the left when slowing down, but this depends on the road, surface, camber etc. It may even pull to the right if in the centre of the road. Is this a feature of having ow profile tyres? Or is there something else atht should be checked out? Read more

I had a similar thing on a company pool car an Avensis diesel on 17s.
Checked the tyre pressure and it was low (30psi). Topped them up to recommended 35psi
and it stopped doing it.
The camber of the road is usually sloping towards the kerb so if the car
tramlines that would explain why it usually pulls to the left under braking. Low profile
tyres are known for increased tramlining.

I agree, put an extra 4psi in and it will eliminate the tramlining, get better mpg and steerings lighter

I need to find a company car, the only constraints I have are that it is a Diesel, Five door and under £400 per month lease cost.

The less co2 the car emits the less tax I will pay.

My personal considerations are that it should be economical for my 40 mile commute over 3 mountains and round several bends.

Obviously all this climbing and cornering will have different effects on different cars. I assume a lightweight car would be best.

I am not really bothered about prestige or how it looks but I spend at least 2.5 hours per day in it so want to be comfortable.

If anybody has any ideas what I should get it would be appriciated? Read more

Company car?

Why not ask for a Car Allowance and buy what you want.

I had a nice car - petrol V6 -in lieu of a Co car I bought another car for work. Outgoing Honda model- ran it 6 years - between 2 companies I was paid 50% more (after tax) than I paid over that time.

Traded it in and got £2,000 so all it cost was depreciation of £8,500 for 6 years motoring.

Mileage allowance (40p for 10K and 25p thereafter) was sufficient to pay petrol, servicing, RFL & Insurance and my private mileage.

I was not taxed on any benefit in kind so all over it was a winner for me and a loser for the taxman.

I have a 307 2.0 D turbo that is giving me grief. When I start her up with a cold engine I find that the power is limited. Cant rev over 3000 at all by this it limits the speed.. This goes away once the engine seems to warm up and then she runs like a dream. The are no faults coming up on the engine management system. It has been in at the dealer and they have told me that they cant identify the fault and nothing is coming up on the readout. they have downloaded new software for the ecu, changed the airflow meter and EGU valve but none of this has solved the problem. please can anyone help me to identify the problem so I can get it fixed. I have exactly the same problem with my car. Did this ever get fixed ?, a friend of mine told me that it could be an issue with the low pressure fuel pump in the tank breaking down. Have you check to see if there are any metal filings in the fuel tank housnig ?

Hello

My Sons wife as a 1.25 fiesta finesse that keeps stalling.

It happens when the car is cold or hot.

It happens at traffic lights roundabouts etc and gerally when pulling away.

She sets the revs ready to pull away and when the clutch is brought up ready to pull away it stops.

It sometimes happens also when pulling onto the drive the revs drop off really low and then it cuts out.

One other thing that she has noticed is that when pulling away fine the car sometimes clunks from the drivers side front.

Could the stalling be the idle control valve.

Kindest Regards

Observe the interior light when you try and crank it; what happens to it's light level?

Have you tried jump leads? I'm wondering about a dodgy connexion in the engine earth cable.

Honda Buyer

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new Honda CRV 2.2 EX in nighthawk black, and the best price i can get at the moment is £23,399 OTR.

Reading about car sales, it seems that September is going to be another hard month. I need the car in December or January, so i have no time pressure really. Would people on here suggest taking the above price right now (secured for Dec/jan delivery) or should i wait until later in the year in the hope that prices will come down even further?

thanks for your opinions!

Should I expect suspension bushes to last more than 20.000 miles They were replaced under warranty at no cost after 30.000 miles. but replacements have just resulted in MOT failure and further warranty work being challenged by dealers

Hi
This is a very common fault with PT's , some seem to need replaceing every 10.000 miles others seem to last for years ,our car is six years old and had one set, they are very easy to do yourself , you can pick the arms up very cheap now , and easier to replace than the bush, chysler would take the arm off to change the bushes then remove the bush and replace , all takes time , quicker to replace whole arm if you do yourself , or the other way to to use poly bushes , stiffens the ride but last a lot longer
