04 1.25 Fiesta Finnesse keeps stalling - Ford Dagenham
Hello

My Sons wife as a 1.25 fiesta finesse that keeps stalling.

It happens when the car is cold or hot.

It happens at traffic lights roundabouts etc and gerally when pulling away.

She sets the revs ready to pull away and when the clutch is brought up ready to pull away it stops.

It sometimes happens also when pulling onto the drive the revs drop off really low and then it cuts out.

One other thing that she has noticed is that when pulling away fine the car sometimes clunks from the drivers side front.

Could the stalling be the idle control valve.

Kindest Regards

yes it could be ur IACV possibly.
does your car throw any engine codes?
however, im more inclined to think its a vacuum leak. at idle, does the engine run rough? can u feel the whole car shake? if so, it could be a vacuum leak, most likely from one of the hoses behind the throttle body. i believe on ford cars, the most common place for vacuum leak is on the PCV hose just behind the intake manifold.
as for the clunking.. im not sure what that could be.. possibly a worn/damaged engine mount?

Hello Folks

A Further Development.

Car was taken to the dealership where guess what they found nothing wrong because there were no fault codes Sigh.

Now the car stalls with plenty of revs when going to restart there is nothing at all.

When I say nothing the key is turned to the off position then position 3 "Start" Not even a click.

Could it be total battery failure.

The voltages from the menu system (Holding trip reset while starting) are 14 v when running and 11.5-12 v when not running.

This obviously indicates that the battery is being charged but could one of the plates in the battery have failed, the battery is 4 years old as is the car.

Observe the interior light when you try and crank it; what happens to it's light level?

Have you tried jump leads? I'm wondering about a dodgy connexion in the engine earth cable.
