    According to its makers, the LifeCar hybrid features a "whole-system" design that is more than an adaptation of a traditional vehicle.     Trials of a new bio-ethanol fuel are to be carried out by Nissan from April 1st, the firm has announced. Bio-ethanol energy comes from soybean and sugar-cane extracts and cuts CO2 emissions, making it environmentally friendly.
  • Audi unveils hydrogen powered h-tron quattro concept 11 Jan 2016 (News)
    Audi   has taken a step closer to zero emission powertrains after unveiling a hydrogen prototype at the Detroit Motor Show. The Audi h-tron quattro concept SUV uses a hydrogen fuel cell and   lithium-ion battery to cover up to 372 miles on a single tank and can be refuelled in four minutes. The four-wheel drive h-tron quattro takes it power from a 110kW fuel cell, but can be boosted by a 100kW battery to produces more than 300PS and 550Nm of torque.

    The engine has a pivoted lever arm between the crankshaft and piston. This changes the piston motion from circular to elliptical, the effect of which is to burn fuel more completely, generating increased power with lower emissions of unburned fuel.
