If I transfer my insurance policy will a potential buyer of my old car be covered by his policy to drive it?

If I transfer my policy to my new car will a potential buyer still be covered by his policy to drive mine even though it’s not insured by me?

Whether or not a third party will be insured to drive your vehicle is entirely dependent on the terms and conditions of their policy. Some comprehensive insurance policies provide third party cover to drive other vehicles with their owner's permission, but not all, so it would be wise to ensure this cover is in place before allowing test drives. We would also suggest contacting your insurer to see if they can keep your old car on your policy on a temporary basis while you complete the sale in case of fire or theft.
