Rubbing strips stop door dings from other cars or supermarket trolleys seem to be rapidly disappearing from cars. I know the Cats has the huge bubbles on the side but can't think of many others who have anything. With cars getting bigger and parking spaces not there is even less room between parked cars so more potential for minor damage from opening doors. Read more

hi everyone i am having problems getting hot air from my heater.i have flushed the engine replaced the thermostat and water pump still nothing, also bled it right through. all the pipes are hot .any help please Read more
It'll probably be broken flaps in the heater box. I expect the spindle has broken so the motor is turning but the flap which controls the cold/warm air flap doesn't move.
Particularly common on cars with dual climate (i.e. temp controls for left/right)....

Thanks for updating. Remember this one.
Don't really get the "lost confidence" bit, though I suppose thats a subjective thing so logic may not be applicable....
Having seen a few press articles about the new car I must say that it looks very promising. For the first time its based on a current platform and providing they get the mix of engines and transmissions right (surely not that difficult - in the current one to get the 1.4 TSi you have to buy the DSG box) with good specs (should be no issues there) and a competitive price it can only be a winner.
The current Rapid is a pretty woeful attempt which looks OK on paper and at first glance but it soon unravels when you look closer. Even Skoda admits it only sells well in the Czech republic, elsewhere it sells in very small numbers. The main advantage it had over the Fabia was the bigger boot and slightly better rear legroom (I am talking spaceback here) but it was narrower inside (it is based on a 2 generations old car) and the materials were poor. Then there was the price, it would have cost us over £3000 more than the Fabia we bought (small discounts and no bonus's), even the salesman told us not to bother.... Read more

Sorry but you buy a Mercedes C350e plug-in hybrid (or any car for that matter) and assumed the road tax would be low. Then, you 'found out' it wasnt low like you 'assumed' so want the supplying dealer to compensate you?
Honestly what are some people like? Have they never heard assume makes an ass out of you and me? Read more
About the BMW fire, there have been quite a few fires in South Korea to the extent that some models are banned and not alllowed in communal car parks etc. If you google "bmw fire korea" there are many articles. Some say it is related to EGR issues
Re:
1. 'A little off colour' - what an idiot. 5 mins on their website or looking througha brochure in the dealership would tell them what colours were available and what the actual colour of that two-tone car was.
The advert is quite clear, obviously showing the top colour to be grey. Not in a month of Sundays would I in any way consider that colour to resemble 'pink'.
2. 'Smooth operator': Yet another muppet who can't understand that it's the tyres that do most of the cushioning in a car's suspension, and that swapping an older Auris with standard tyres for an expensive Rav4 or RX450h with wide, large diameter tyres (never mind if they are the lowest spec 60 profile [18in] ones or the wide lower profile 19/20in ones), it will end up costing them far more than just changing their existing wheels and tyres on the Auris to higher profile, smaller internal diameter ones (as I did on my 13yo Mazda3), or just buying another c-sector car with a decent ride quality generally and 60+ profile/16in tyres that aren't more than 205mm wide. This wouldn't work at the NT area up the road from where I live, and as I suspect many others as there isn't a phone signal.
It looks just like an updated Rapid not exactly stylish or exciting, despite the marketing waffle Read more

I have a VW FSI 2006 and I keep getting every so often EPC in my dashboard. My mechanic carried out a diagnost and produced me a list od potential problems, he said it's difficult to pinpoint which one could be the reason. Can you advise me please. Read more
Complete myth . Removing the fuse does nothing. In fact it will probably run worse until the engine ecu relearns driving adaptations.
Hi, a little advice if you would please. I am sure I have read on this site before the reasons fro changing all four tyres at the same time on a AWD Subaru. Can someone please direct me to the post that discussed this or the article it was in.
I am sure there is a view that these systems are very sensitive to tread depth differences. I have just had four tyres fitted but was told by the Tyre shop that it was not necessary and he could just change one (nail in the tyre). They are all three years old and getting close to the legal minimum so I went with all four.... Read more
You run the risk of burning out your diffs if your tyres vary in circumference. As well as rotating (I thought it was front to rear same side?) get the tracking and four wheel alignment checked every couple of years to keep everything wearing evenly. Its the price you pay for 4 wheel drive.
