Skoda turbo - isn't the dealer at fault for not originally replacing the turbo pipes or at least checking them for blockages the first time round? This is a known issue on other VAG products, eg Audi TT. Also, letting an engine run when stopped for fuel at a pump is not a good idea.... Read more
Impassable Situation : suggest you get a dash-cam fitted, and if you have the situation re-occur, you can upload your footage for the police to review and charge as required.

Hi, i know that the starting battery is located in the rear boot on the right hand side but I may decide to place a leisure battery in the boot also ( I have done this before on a 406). On the left hand side in the boot is another space, similar to where the cars battery is housed currently holding the jack I think? Would this be strong enough to place a 65amp leisure battery in?
Thanks Read more
Why bother with installing a 2nd leisure battery?
WOuldn't it make more sense just to use a battery booster pack to power your ancillaries when required?...
Fuel duty in France is on the rise with road blocks and fuel station blocks on the agenda. Apparently the new taxes will go towards eco friendly projects. Macron is said to be facing the protesters down.....didn't something like this happen previously over there? Read more
I have a sneaky regard for the French, they don't sit back and write letters to disinterested MPs they go out and do something. Our lot were petrified when the revolution was on lest it came over here. I hope they are successful.
6 weeks ago I bought a 2012 car from a very large garage group, low miles, good price.
They said it would be ready to collect & pay for about a week later as they wanted to service it , valet & give it a new MOT! When I bought the car I noted that it needed a service for the DSG clutchs & the Haldex 4 wheel drive system, the selling garage was not an Audi dealership & i agreed that I would bear this expense & have done at a Audi Inside of my choice. So cut a long story short when I collected the car from Audi they informed me that the car has 2 decats pipes fitted in place of the secondary cats & it should not have passed an mot as its missing irrespective whether or not it passed the BET test! They also went on to say that the fact that there is no emission light lit then it has also been remapped to extinguish this ! They told me if I drive the car I could be liable for a largish fine or worse. I have contacted the garage who sold the car & could not get to talk to a manager but a salesman . I I have now looked at the Mot which was completed 2 days before I purchased the car & its been done at the garages in house Mot station....its 3 days since the phone call to them, no answer to my calls or emails ? What next ? Read more
What a nightmare for punters who have no idea about the rules and regulations.

Indeed, whilst they might look expensive and on paper outgunned by the competition in HP goodies or towing weights, when it comes to maintaining its value nothing comes near the Hilux.
eg we bought one new in 2007 and sold it privately 3.5 years later losing only just over 25% of its value....
Interesting snippets from the Transport for London quotes:
"At the point of issuing the penalty we would not know if a vehicle had been cloned."
If this is the case, shouldn't the over-reliance on revenue-generating automated cameras, rather than proper road policing, be questioned instead of harassing poor innocent motorists? There's a huge culture of 'I do what i like' now in London among a lot of people (such as potential terrorists), so automated cameras are not a good way to enforce good road behaviour to those that need to learn it.
Another quote:
"On receipt of the penalty a motorist can follow the representations and appeals procedure and challenge a PCN. If we receive a representation stating a vehicle has been cloned we request evidence to confirm this."
I thought people are supposed to be innocent until proved guilty, so it should be TFL's job to prove the car was the unlucky person's who got the fine, not the other way round. If I'm not the person in the driving seat when the offense and the video / picture took place and contest that, they need to do the running around to verify it - then compensate me for wasting my time, making false accusations and stressing me out.
GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation - I'm fed up hearing how the DVLA sell people's private details and sensitive information to anyone that pays for it (and in this case, without justification as the person they are attempting to track down hasn't actually done anything wrong!). TFL are not the police, just like all the other morally corrupt organisations that can buy this data for a few quid. With the new GDPR laws coming into effect last May, someone needs to look into the goings on of the good old DVLA and see them suitably reprimanded. Read more
After his death, I lawfully transferred my late fathers car to the local garage he had used for years. As executor and whilst dealing with his estate, a month later I received a summons from the courts, with a photo attached, of his car breaking the speed limit on the M11 in Essex (he lived in Norfolk.) He was recorded as the registered driver.
I was in no mood to respond to explain to Essex Police that he had been dead for 3 months and I gleefully awaited for further prosecution. Needless to say, it never came. These things take time for a computer to digest!!!
Hi all, so I recently purchased a Vauxhall insignia 1.8 2010. Really happy with it until error code 3 app reads on the dash (low coolant) I did a bit of research and found two common problem relating to this. One being a cracked header tank with I have replaced. The other is the egr/cooler. Which also could cause bad mpg. I’m currently getting 21 when google says I should be getting 37 I think.
My question is, do I have a egr? If so what’re the locations of it and the cooler?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Read more

My EGR valve is capped to stop the excess smoke that was billowing out. But now after 2 years my shogun is idling extremely high when In Drive or reverse in traffic. This isn’t the case when she first starts (starts first time) but gradually builds up as she gets warmer. My mechanic is completely flummoxed. Mitsubishi have said perhaps pump but these are £3000 + so that isn’t an option. Any ideas please help. I need my car. Read more
I don't know about Mitsis, but from the Landcruiser forums when people completely block off the EGR valve it does throw issues and is inclined to put the EML on, the answer appears to be drilling a certain sized hole in the blanking plate allowing enough by pass to keep the system happy.
Obviously this is nothing to do with Mitsi, but i suggest the answer to this is more likely to be found on one of the Mitsi 4x4 forums....
It's based on a Ford Focus. Hardly a "large, ugly beast"!
