Having posted a problem a short while ago, I have replaced my battery with a new one. This ran down to flat, So I had a local garage I use to charge it up to 75% I followed his advice to give the car a run on a local motorway, His instruction was to bring the car back in a few days he tested the Alternator/ Battery and the readout said both ok. Yesterday all seemed good , today the car has lost all power again .
I took my car took to the garage to get the master cylinder replaced on the clutch and when I got phoned to say that may car was ready I was surprised to see the clutch pedal low down like near the floor. And when I went back in to speak to the service manager I got told that Vauxhall only wanted to replace the clutch pipe and elbow..i asked why wasn't the master cylinder not replaced as that's what I got told was wrong with the car..he says Vauxhall wanted to see how that worked first.. so I drove away from the garage as never says anything about if it was safe to drive..so anyways 10 mins when on motorway and when I tried to select a gear when slowing down I couldn't select another gear and having to keep lifting the pedal of the floor with my feet and whilst trying to engage a gear with great difficulty Read more

Hi I am looking at buying a 308 1.6 e-hdi 2012 plate with 78000 miles, the garage have replaced the clutch but not the flywheel. Should this be of concern? Do the flywheels last longer than the clutch on this model?

Been over here almost two weeks. First week round Texas in the Maxima. . Roomy comfy and cornered well with plenty of go. Nudging 31mpg to the uk gallon on a run. Shame it's not in the uk afaik. I loved it but being older i prefer a higher seating position. Getting Out Of It Was A Bit Awkward For Me At Times.

The 220 diesel engine of Mercedes seems to used in lots of different models from E Class, Slk, C Class etc. Got me wondering which engine has appeared in the most wide range of models. Read more
The A series was in production for the best part of 50 years and the even the list of Austin, BMC (etc.) applications is huge, plenty of ‘overseas’ models too. Renault’s ‘Billancourt’ four cylinder first appeared in 1947 and was still going strong in the 2000s, that found its way into all manner of vehicles around the world. I think the last was the Dacia Denem but it may even still be used in new vehicles in South America.
The modern engines cited may have the numbers but for longevity and variety of applications these two take some beating.Another free-loader. Read more
I am not sure what he tried to achieve there but if someone needs actual advice on the topic based on my work experience, I can recommend Antalya and nearby Turkish cities.
All-inclusive hotels for very cheap prices, the only problem is finding plane tickets for a reasonable price.
On the Haldex clutch not figuring in the VAG/Skoda service schedule. Our 2011 Yeti's service booklet stated this requirement clearly. Our 2015 Yeti's documentation omits all mention of it. I think this has much to do with the terrible quality of Skoda UK's disorganised and badly-translated handbook and other documents, which do not improve as the years go by, plus the desire on the part of all manufacturers to play down maintenance requirements so as to pretend that cars will cost next to nothing to maintain.
In fairness I should add that our dealer was aware of the requirement to service the Haldex. As documentation gets ever more inadequate, the responsibility of the dealer to advise about necessary work grows greater. Read more

I had this problem with my old focus, what fixed it for me and I dont know why was a new speed sensor. Cheap fix if it is.
