Why is the process described as dialysis? Nothing to do with dialysis which involves two liquids separated by a semi-permeable membrane that allows ions and small molecules to pass through. Read more
Without doubt some truck drivers do take shortcuts, sometimes contrary to posted prohibitions, but these are comparatively few. In order to prove the offence it is necessay to check whether the vehicle is en route to a destination within the prohibited area. In order to do that the vehicle either has to be followed all the way through, or stopped and the driver's load sheets checked.
Have local councils the finances to provide personnel and vehicles to check the routes of heavy goods vehicles? Would such patrols have the powers to stop and examine the load sheets?
This appears to be another example of the Police not having sufficient resources to provide traffic patrols, and local councils looking to boost their coffers by picking what they consider to be an easy target.

If a fraction of what the road haulage industry has paid in road tax and fuel tax we would have many more roads suitable for hgv,s , We have been treated as a cash cow for the treasury for years, Councils are very keen to erect signs restricting hgv.s
but never sign diversionary routes, drivers rarely know if their delivery address in within the restricted area or not, I'm surprised any one wants to drive them these days and don't forget if you've got it a truck brought it.
Hi,

I had a focus which if left for a long period went to sleep electronically so did not respond to remote key fob until it was woken up. The instructions to resolve were in the handbook inside!
I think you had to pull the door handle to reactivate. Is yours an actual key to unlock or remote?
Worth a search on the Internet.
My engine management light came on yesterday, together with the message "anti pollution fault" .Any suggestions, and is it safe to continue driving car? Read more
Thanks for your help. The car is booked in for a check on Thursday. I'll post the results.
My mini has failed it’s MOT due to worn inner walls of back tyres (tread is absolutely fine). The same happened last year! The garage has previously investigated tracking but say they can’t adjust it in the way it needs doing. Has anyone had this and do you have any advice? I will change the tyres to get it through the MOT but need to find out the cause. Any suggestions please? Read more
It shouldn't be possible, but is there any misalignment in the rear subframe? A friend of mine noticed strange wear patterns on his rear tyres (quite a few years ago now) which were eventually traced to faulty set-up in the rear geometry.
I recently purchased a new to me 2015 Nissan qashqai 1.6 dci. Imprrssd with the car so far. Yesterday I opend the bonnet to do the usuel checks and saw how tiny the engin actuly is (lots of ancillary parts fill the engin bay) infact the battery actuly looks bigger than the engin.

The business part of the engine takes very little space. To visualise it, imagine four 397g cans of Carnation condensed milk in a row. They measure 80mm x 75mm diameter, the size of a slightly undersquare cylinder. Even larger engines with six or more 500ml cylinders don't seem so large when thought of in this way.
Further to my recent posts regarding lost battery power. I have replaced the battery, I have had an Alternator / Battery check done at my local garage both checked out as having no problems. I moved on to an Auto Electrical Co, They have pulled fuses as a test / connected a diagnostic machine and still not found the cause of the parasitic drain. All they say is it may be time to have the car to a Ford Dealership to see if they can find something. Having been online it seems as though Dealerships can run out of ideas as well. Tried spending my way out of the problem, no luck so far. Read more

If you can wait a few weeks, and if AC have several in the trim you want, it might be worth hanging on to see if they have a sale in July / Aug before the new reg comes out. We bought our pre-reg C4 Picasso from them in Feb - they had the pre-reg ones marked down by £2k (making it near £8k off list!).

It's all about the scratch innit...!!...only a fairly light surface scratch will respond to the varous remedies available. (I use G3).
It's possible to "improve" the look of some deeper scratches but it will be temporary....
So I've bought a car, 2016 Citroen C1 from a big dealer, low mileage and advertised as having its service history.
In the servicing book it doesn't have a stamp for what would be it's first service. It has less than 7000miles on clock so I am wondering if the previous owner simply didn't bother or if there's been a service but just not stamped.... Read more
Managed to talk to the original dealer over phone who confirmed the date in service book and that a service was carried out and no repairs required, they are happy to supply me with the details for future reference. Its put my mind at ease but definitely a few pointers along the way!
