I'm selling my 64 plate Audi A3 and just want ride as I have gotten a work car and no longer require the vehicle. I don't like the idea of selling to we buy any car because apparently they do not offer a fair price. I have found a local company to me called Sell your car to Jack, does anyone in the Birmingham area have any experience with this company and could give me some more insight? www.sellyourcar2jack.com/ Read more
So not too bad but how much would they deduct when they viewed the car. Are there any admin fees I wonder?
They say not. But then point out that the price only applies if you deliver the car TO them at one of 2 sites in the UK - both in or near Birmingham. ...
So, 18 months on, and 10,000 miles on, still very satisfied with the venga. Routine servicing with annual oil changes so far and no problems except for one weeping shock absorber, no doubt down to the state of our roads.
Fuel consumption mostly around here about 35 is, 40 on a "run".... Read more
Completely off track but how can you block an e mail sender on Yahoo? I get so much rubbish.
Run the newest version of yahoo mail, (not classic) and spam once, then at the top in the options.. reply, delete etc there should be 3 little dots , choose block. strangely enough depends on the new yahoo mail version you get....
The dealer told me this is metallic paint, but it doesn't look as shiny as the other metallic paint cars I've seen?
There is a very different shade of blue for the Tucson which looks much more metallic.... Read more
its flat paint that’s the cheapest, metallic and pearl are similar priced, though pearl can be slightly more expensive, i think the difference is pearl has some flakes in the paint, that’s not the variety one eats with their ice cream, but some glitter type of substance that makes it look a different shade at differing angles.
I had a Citroen Xsara with pearl red and that look different at different angles and at night, now i have an i20 in pearl blue (cant remember the exact name) and that is a flat blue, though at night it reflects light to give a sparkle effect. a chap did a very minor bumper repair and got the colour perfect.
Hi,
I'm looking to replace a Mazda 6 with a large used family car. I think I've narrowed it down to a Skoda Octavia estate or a Citreon Grand Picasso. Needs to be economical and have a have a big boot. Mileage will be low (less then 10k a year). Any thoughts?... Read more
At this mileage and money you need to focus on reliability rather than outright fuel economy. A modern DPF equipped diesel is not suitable for low mileage use, they require regular longer distance runs to regen the filter otherwise it’ll clog, often with costly side effects.
A much less complex and hugely more reliable normally aspirated petrol engine would be a much better longterm bet. My first thoughts point to a Honda Accord 2.0, particularly the Estate which is practical, very longlived and will do 40mpg on a run. A Civic 1.8 is surprisingly spacious, more economical and available in much greater numbers too.
Your budget won’t grant you a later belt driven TSI petrol Skoda Octavia with only the early and troublesome chain driven examples within range or the 1.6 diesels which are murder for DPF and EGR problems and best avoided especially with your low mileage.
A Mazda 6 2.0 petrol is another good big family car with 40mpg economy but none of the worries a modern diesel would bring. You won’t get the latest Skyactiv model but the previous model was a great thing to drive and rarely went wrong. The smaller 3 is a great little family car but might lack the space you need.
A Toyota Avensis 1.8 is a solid big car too. A bit bland and the electronic parking brake is a weak point but otherwise these are very tough things.
Hi all, in a bit of a bind !
My EGR was clogged with carbon so I removed it and my inlet manifold and cleaned them. Looks much better now but now it's all back together I have low power. I can hear the turbo so confident that's working yet I struggle to get to and stay at 70mph and also flat spots (more noticeable in 3rd at about 3,000 rpm)... Read more
I think you are on the right track here.Make sure all the vac hoses are good with positive connection to the vac lines. Also make sure that the vac pipes to the turbo actuator valve are on the correct way round .
I own a VW Golf TDI Bluemotion 1.6 (2014 plate). I have noticed a hollow sounding noise from the rear passenger side when I start exceeding 40 mph. It happens between 40-60mph; then stops.
Visual look shows nothing obvious untoward.
Can anyone suggest anything as to what the fault could be before I take it to my VW Dealer/Local Garage?
Much Appreciated. Read more

Honda civic 1.5 or 1.8, which one to choose ? Please advice experts im new here on honestjohn. I have been reading blogs and visiting forum from many years but its my first time im posting for experts suggestions. Read more
That is a fair enough point about trying each car, assuming it's practical to do so. However i'm not convinced the OP's question is what everyone is assuming, that of a new 1.5t vs an old shape 1.8 (as they are not really competitors). I'm wondering if it is simply a typing error and what the OP is actually thinking of is a previous shape 1.4 vs a previous shape 1.8. It's a moot point though as the OP, as is often the case, has provided little details and not bothered to return and clarify anything.
Couldn't agree more....
The basic 718 has performance to satisfy anyone - no need to get the "S". A capable car with true breadth of ability...BUT...the cost of even a few (I would say necessary) "extras", as you suggest - auto box, proper wheels, etc brings this to c£57k at the very least -probs nearer to £60k......that's what really rankles.....
