Does anyone know if Toyota pre mixed red coolant is OAT ? I drained out the pink coolant from my peugeot 107 which I believed to be OAT and replaced it with the aforementioned coolant.

There seems to a lot of confusion with the earlier concentrated red Toyota coolant when I searched for information. I definately used the pre mixed so no water has contaminated the mix.... Read more

So refreshing when someone knows what they are talking about as opposed to quoting personal opinion as fact. I find this site quite good in this respect.

Thank you

My dad is looking for a small van for approx £2000. The size of van he is looking at is Transit Connect/Berlingo sized. I am warey of modern diesel engines being potentially problematic, and costly to repair. Read more

He could ( I've seen this done on a Mondeo estate ) take the back seat out of the Astra, cut a piece of plywood to make a flat floor, another to make a bulkhead, get the back windows film tinted and he'd have a van. Might have to put the back seat back in at MOT time but that's usually pretty easy.

VW Golf GTI 2009 : CCZB : WF59 WYJ

I purchased my Golf MK6 GTI 2.0 TSI car from a Volkswagen Dealer in 2010. The car has a full Volkswagen service history. The car suffered a total engine failure on 30th April 2018 due to a fault with the Timing Chain and Chain Tensioner that was known to Volkswagen. This is not a serviceable item, so it should last for the life of the car.... Read more

The limit of civil liabilty is 6 years, but the legal situation is not as clear cut as this suggests.

As you are in for a hefty bill whichever way you decide to resolve it, it might be worth while having a free half hour with a decent solicitor, just to clarify your postition....

Mrs T liked her Honda Jazz so much that when the time came for a change she wanted another …

Armed with quotes from the usual discounters – DtheD, Broadspeed, UK Car Discount, etc. I found I could achieve a saving of up to almost £1,600 off the on the road price of £15,740 and popped along to my local dealership. The sales team seemed very reluctant to put down their phones and talk to a prospective customer, but I did get myself a cup of coffee! Eventually I managed to attract a salesman’s attention, but apparently he was “not the guy to speak to”, however I learned that they were “very keen to get my business” … whilst only offering a maximum discount of £800.... So you have bought a car from a broker and it develops a fault. How keen would local dealers be to fix it under warranty?

If you buy from a reputable broker like Carfile (and I believe Drive the Deal work the same way) they only introduce the buyer to their dealer and there is no record anywhere that the car has been bought from a broker. If the dealer is distant and you take it to your local daeler they should treat you like anyone who needs repair/service, its work at the end of the day. Treat you well and you will return, treat you badly and you should vote with your feet. When we bought the Leon via Carfile we used one of our local dealers who proved to be totally incompetent (did not tighten sump plug) so when the next service was due we used another local dealer who was fine. We used him for subsequent services and he sold us tyres at prices better than we could get in the interweb. It no different to buying a car locally then moving home 200 miles, you are not expected to travel to the seller for work or service....

Looking at the situation in France, it's totally different, France as we all know has a culture of heavy drinking.

Hi all, I'd just been wondering - a while ago I remember my son telling me that it was possible to change the colour of the dash/radio display inside the most recent shape Ford Fiesta from the blue that it is originally displayed in.

My question is - how would one do this? Is it also possible in other superminis such as a Corsa or a Polo or is this a unique feature offered by Ford? ... Read more

You can change the colour from the blue background to black/white or white/black it is in the settings menu.

Hope that helps....

Had to get a new steering rack 6 months ago because of a leak. Took it in for it's mot today and was told it will need replaced again as it is leaking. Also told the steering rack boots had been ripped off as they were not there. Was wondering how likely this was and whether the rack would still be under warranty? Cheers Read more

The boots can only get ripped off if you have driven over something and the car has bottomed out. These are dust boots and prevent the ingress of debris into the rack.If they are not present, then the rack could be damaged and leak.

Can anybody tell me if it is possible to replace the header unit in my Golf cabriolet (64 reg) 1.4TSI? The one installed has the narrow small screen, but it looks as if it is part of a much larger housing. If there is a replacement, will it be compatible with all the functions in the car. I don't obviously have built in sat nav.

Thanks. Read more

Hi,

I'm not sure what my next move should be with regards to my van. It's had the fuel pump reconditioned , and now won't start. It was done before I owned it, and a friend has suggested that the timing may now be out after the pump has been reconditioned Could this be possible? The engine turns over, and a very small amount of fuel comes through the injectors, but not much at all. Can you suggest what I do next?... Read more
