At the moment there appears to be no permanent fix for this problem and the advice is not to use the rear middle passenger seat. What rights does an owner have regarding this fault and the fact that there is currently no long term solution? Read more

Confession, i was a banger racer in my misspent youth, though the typical stuff we bangered couldn't have been saved because of terminal rust.

I'm ointo keeping cars like this Volvo going as long as possible because we'll never see their like again, and nor will the electronic laded models being made today last anywhere near as long as those 90's designs, imho the pinnacle years of durable car design.

In brief, is it worth paying for Autoglym paint protection service (around £300) for a new car on delivery?

Is the process something I could do myself, or is it something more technical than that - I have no idea to be honest.... Read more

Thanks for the advice on this - I think it has saved me some money.

A bit of elbow grease is obviously required from yours truly, after a trip to Halfords....

If you're not going to be doing a lot of short journeys from cold, then its probably best using a bottle of injector cleaner like Redex or similar once every couple of years (that's what I'm now doing).

If you plan to use Redex (or whatever) occasionally, the best time is to do it annually, just before the MoT, to improve the emissions figures....

The possibilities are endless. How about...'He's behind you' . Could bring back the 'bird exhaust whistle' for hybrids.

I was trying to post in the context that some road users (pedestrians crossing the road especially ) do so without looking - they may listen and then cross without looking.

pedestrians have been doing that for years so its nothing new, you just have to be extra carefull when going through highly populated roads or close to schools...

I did one back in 2015, I don't think the on-line versions were available then so I did mine at Bath Racecourse. Many of these courses seem to be run by retired Police officers, I found the course ok and certainly worth doing to keep the points off the licence. I've spent many worse afternoons in a classroom being bored to near death by work training courses.

The medical conditions you describe are quite common. I injured my back several times, and lots of exercise has helped. Stretching works wonders. Just make sure you check with your doctor or physio first.

Hi i'm currently driving a 3 door Fiesta 1.6 Titanium 2012. I'm looking for something slightly bigger and newer ideally 2015 onward - coming from a Titanium it needs to be a decent spec. Looking for something with a larger boot and 5 doors. I have been looking at Skoda Fabia SE and Seat Ibiza FR. Can you recommend anything else? Thanks in advance. I do about 7000 miles a year, however I do plan on keeping the car so it will be finaced myself.

Well first, the Qashqai is not actually Japanese, it is a Renault Megane on stilts. Secondly you really can't judge the safety of a small car based on what I assume, is a Mk1 Ka. Car safety in all classes has come on massively since then!. We have a current shape Honda Jazz and not only would it provide at least as good if not better crash protection than your Qashqai, it is also one of the safest cars in it's class. Look at the EuroNCAP website for details.
