Anyone fancy one of the wackiest looking cars ever to be put into production?. Just been browsing on autotrader and came upon this, an isuzu vehicross. Looking like something out of Judge Dredd it is actually just a swb trooper underneath, so no exotic mechanical components to worry about. Guaranteed to turn more heads than any Ferrari or Lamborghini!. Just the thing for any country dwelling extrovert!.... Read more

You probably loosing coolant through the header tank overflow or filler cap, look around the cap for any white streaks down the tank, you could place a recepticle under the end ot the overflow pipe to see if that's where the coolant is going, if it is you probably have a leaking head gasket but it only blows the coolant out when under pressure i.e. when climping a steep hill or accelerating hard.

This thread seems to be much the same as the other one you started. You've been given some very good advice on the other thread, so I'll close this one.
Hi all, hope someone can help with a problem I’ve got with my recently acquired Ford C-Max.... Read more
There is no idle control valve on these .All throttle actions are controlled bt the electronic throttle body. Do not attempt to clean the throttle as the venturi surface has a special coating to prevent build up of gunge.I would do a ecu reset /relearn procedure.Disconnect the battery for 10 mins.Remember the radio will need recoding afterwards.
I (my wife) has a 2009 Focus 1.6 petrol. Which we have had since 7 months old. IT has done 62K miles and has never so far had any fault other than a loose aircon union which drained tghe gas and was ok after tightening and re-gassing. It has been serviced by me since the warranty expired with the proper synth oil at 12 months regardless of mileage and has been garaged (my car lives outside !!).
My questions are as follows, how much longer is the clutch likely to last, it feels perfectly normal now, but in its lifespan it has done quite a bit of urban driving. Also it has never had an exhaust and as far as I can see the exhaust is still ok. I realise therse are fuzzy questions but what are peoples opinions ?... Read more
Depends how well you look after it. Our 126,000m X reg Focus (2000) has original exhaust, requiring only a tenner's worth welding to one of its supporting lugs a couple of years ago. It gets an occasional wire brush of rusty-looking bits and squirt of high temperature aluminium paint. The build quality of this basic Ford continues to amaze me - it even has sound-proofing carpet in the wheel arches!
Any one come accross this issue of high oil consumption, reported on the GEN 3 Prius?
Apparently Toyota has released a TSB regarding this, to replace updated piston rings and pistons, for cars affected by this.... Read more
apart from looks, they seem to go on forever, but I wish majority of their drivers would drive them, not treat them as though the car has something wrong with it, some drive so slow they cause traffic tailbacks which I find annoying
Didnt Toyota change piston ring manufacturers some years ago because of the same problem?
Cut a long story short, in the middle of the day, some scro@ts decided to crowbar the k****** window open, steal both keys and do one. Within 20 minutes the car was found by the police locked up with no damage. I've already sorted out a locksmith to cut and code me a key to drive the car home and bought a full lockset so they don't come back for the car, my question is, should I tell the insurance as I won't be making a claim plus it stops them putting some sort of black mark against my reg Read more
The car would only be put onto the Vehicle Condition and Alert Register if your insurance company had to pay out on it.
I have a 2015 Scirocco 2.0TDi with start stop function. I've read that it is recommended idling a turbo diesel for a few minutes after a long motorway run to avoid damaging the turbo but how does this work with the start stop facility kicking in automatically when coming to a stop on the off slip? Read more
I fully believe this feature is partly to blame for the rise in cases of turbo failure in modern turbo diesels. I can override it in our CRV either by disabling it or by keeping my foot on the clutch but if I allow it to work it'll kill the engine even immediately after it's been running at high speed which is a big no no on any turbocharged motor.
The fuel saving is vastly outweighed by the likely damage it's doing in the longterm and the extra cost added to the vehicle to start with. Plus the cost of replacing the heavy duty alternators and starters on cars with stop start is painful in the extreme. A good friend recently had £850 hoovered from his wallet by the local VW dealer to replace the alternator in his Mk VI Golf GTi! I regularly buy perfectly decent cars for less!!
Can we please have an additional topic - 'New Posters, please read before posting' to appear at the head of the list of 'Topics'? .........
'As well as the make and model of the car, please include the basic details of engine type, age and mileage. That'd be nice!
I mean even on the phone I get "my car won't start!"...
By the way, John F, I recently took on a new customer (I'm a window cleaner) and the house across the road has a gold triumph TR8 sitting on the drive!. Don't know if it is genuine or a converted TR7, but it looks good!.
