My wife, who has a clean driving licence for 32 years, has this week received two speeding tickets in the post - The same stretch of road- once going there and once coming back the following day. The route was about 30/40 miles and she admits she must have been careless as the speed limits varied between 30,40 and 50
She is now worried sick that there are others in the pipeline because if there is she may be facing a ban - is there any way of checking so as to either give piece of mind or at least facing the consequences.... Read more

Hi everybody - thanks for the replies. Apologies for the VERY late thank you - been out of action for a while due to illness.
Thankfully there's no smell of coolant, the screenwash pipes are intact, and the drainage holes on the doors are all clear, too....
Hi. When i rev up my fiesta the revs then dip down to 500 rpm and almost cuts out. when driving along, coming to a stop or depressing the clutch the engine will drop to 500 rpm and cut out. So far i have replaced the throttle body with 2 different units but to no avail. My initial thought was that the iacv maybe faulty which I know is governed by the throttle body in this model.
Car holds good vacuum. When the vacuum line is removed from fuel pressure regulator on the injector rail, the car runs spot on. I have tried replacing this also to no avail. ... Read more
Check the vacuum pipes underneath the inlet manifold as they're well known to split. Disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the fuel pressure regulator will mean fuel pressure will be at maximum all the time, but you will of course have a vacuum leak at the same time. If the vacuum pipes are split, and you correct it, the engine idle will take a while to stabilise but eventually it should.
So I'm currently driving a 2010 Scirocco GT with the standard 19" alloys. I've had a bit of an incident where I had to swerve to avoid a car and ended up beached (kind of) on the pavement (central reservation kind of) and I've done some damage to the alloys. Anyway long story short I don't think it matters about damaging the inside of the alloys but one is visibly scuffed and 1 or 2 are showing signs of bubbling/peeling slightly anyway so I'm thinking of getting them powdered black at the same time as I get the wheels refurbished.
Does anyone have any input towards what I'm planning to do and also can anyone recommend a good wheel shop to me that's nearby, I'm in Brighton.
Thanks a lot Read more
Can anybody help?
My eldest son is finally showing some interest in learning to drive (at the age of 19). He has been mentioning various cars and various options, most of which, im not that keen on!. But he is 19 and it is up to him!.
Anyway, i was reading a magazine the other morning and saw an advert for the MG3. List price for the basic model is £8399, 20% deposit, which is just under £1700, then up to 5 years interest free credit with payments of £111.99 per month (over the full 5 years). Seemed like a decent enough deal, and my son likes the look of the car (unusual, as he is very fussy with car looks). Had a look at the car on Honest John reviews, particularly the good/bad section, which showed nothing under bad. Then, to top it off, i found out that despite having a 105bhp 1.5 litre (chain, not belt) engine, it is only group 4 insurance!.... Read more
It looks a little like a Skoda Fabia
My 2015 model which has done 30k suffers from rough idling when in Park and neutral. It's not all of the time but it happens often, say 8 to 10 times a day (car is a taxi). What I have noticed is that when this happens and I pull away in 1st or reverse there is clutch judder and it's significant. When idling it feels a bit like the clutch is trying to bite, if say in a manual you sat with the handbrake on and rocked the clutch that is what this sounds like.
I will take to my skoda dealer but being armed with any information would be most helpful as they sometimes dismisses warranty claims for clutches.... Read more
Well after 5 days in my local dever car now has a new clutch and is fine. It has knocked my confidence in the dsg set up though, clutch failing at such low miles, hope it doesn't happen again.
Can anybody help me regarding engine light on, and car juddering? ? Bought this car about 6 weeks ago,. I took it back twice with the engine and depolution lights on. The first time, they ran some fluid through which cured it for 2 days, then they replaced the timing chain, which cured it for a week. Now, just the engine light is on, and the car judders, and stalls sometimes. The staff at the garage have now changed, claim they know nothing about this problem. Any ideas what could be wrong?? ''European commission warned of car emissions test cheating, five years before VW scandal
Documents seen by Guardian show that the commission’s in-house science service told it in 2010 that tests had uncovered what researchers suspected to be a ‘defeat device’''

Whilst I do not own a vehicle that is covered by the emmisions scandal I am becoming really frustrated at the way people seem to be totally unhappy with the way it is being handled and the voice of the 'The Press' is deafening by it silence on the matter and seesm to have been brow beaten by the vast VW Audi group to let them deal with this. All of this seems a far cry from the outrcry raged against Toyota when they faced a recall a few years ago. It seems 'The Pres' both general and specialist motoring magazine jouralist' appear to be fearful of upsetting the VW/Audi group and being left off the list of the next Porsche/ Buggati Press launch and the owners of the titles are fearful of loosing advertising revenue. Only my thoughts, I am sure they are presenting all of the facts but feel the owners are being left to challenge the might of VW/ Audi on their own. It is amazing that VW have settled the matter with CASH in the USA so quickly.
Hi all, i am currently in the process of becoming a self employed mechanic, i have my premises in place and am in the stage of deciding which company to purchase my garage equipment from, this has been a long term dream of mine as i really hate overbearing bosses and managers and love the idea of being my own boss so with this in mind i began to save up my hard earned ten years ago and now have the finances in place to go for it.
I have spent the last few months looking at various UK suppliers and have allmost decided on these guys www.garageequipmentonline.com/ as the discount offered blows away the competition in terms of price, but although price is a concern after sales service is paramount.... Read more
Thanks for the input guys but it would seem that the question was misunderstood, i wasnt asking how long they had been trading because hey everybody starts somewhere, was looking to see if anyone had bought from them and if so what is the after sales like anyway all irrelevant now as my order had been placed and i am pleased to say that all of my equipment arrived and was installed by their engineers in good time and manner.
All in all a pleasant experience so far but i will keep you updated over the coming months....
All done this morning thanks for the help
