Thanks for the post, I am trying to source a 'vehicle speed sensor' but so far without much luck. Think I will try the big motor factors first, although I guess it won't hurt to check with chrysler themselves, you never know sometimes the main dealer comes up trumps!

On Honest John and other forums there are hundreds of unhappy people after getting the fix, and they have my sympathy, I would be angry fit to commit murder. But Im wondering if as VW say the vast majority of cars are fine after the fix, half a million cars fixed with only 3500 complaints. Do we only hear from the unfortunate minority? If your happy let us know it please.

I would particularly like to know of any cars using AdBlue that have been fixed, some Passats, Sharans and possiblt some Tiguans. If my understanding is correct these cars have a good chance of comming out of it unscathed because the AdBlue on its own is capable of reducing NOx by 90%... Read more

My Sharan uses it RT and it was buiit mid August 2014 ( 64 plate ) but whither earlier versions use it I dont know. The service advison at the dealers mentioned that some of the later Tiguans use it and there is a YouTube video showing how to refill a Passat thats dated before the EURO6 came in. Piecing it together.

The fix only came out in early February 2016 and the letter says a injector damper will be fitted and the car will use more fluid, I heard the damper is because they increase the fuel pressue at the injectors. These cars have all the hardware for EURO 6 but are still EURO 5.

Hey all, new user here. I've got a Ford Focus st 2 2016 model with only 2300 miles on the clock in which I've own from new for the past year. In that year is been in the garage nearly 9 times! First due to the steering wheel being angled while going straight, then it was recalled for software update and they couldn't complete it so had to go back there 2 weeks later, after that I've had one rather big issue. This issue I've been back to Ford 5 times and on the 28th is my 6th!

The gearbox / clutch.

So I went to them as I couldn't select reverse gear smoothly. There always felt to be like something in the way, I could press and pump the cluch and nothing would change you had to force it into gear to get it to go in, after if you left the clutch peddle pressed you could slot straight back in although release it and try again, you're back at the first stage. Ford have put a new clutch on my car, and have added something last week yet this has made it worst. Now it feels It's also no disengaging reverse when going into first! They are trying to do something else next week, but just curious if anyone on here would know of any ideas why it's happening ?

Thanks! Read more

Hi, yesterday my car started becoming very loud like a roar when accelerating, in 1st and 2nd gear it was worse.
When I parked up, I noticed a rattling noise from underneath the car, it wasn't too loud but there was definitely some rattling from somewhere. Does anyone know what this could be? Catalytic converter?

I didn't notice any drop in performance and no warnings lights but I wasn't driving it for long after I noticed it as I was close to home.

If it is the cat, does anyone know much it should cost on the mk4 to replace?

Cheers Read more

Mine rattled when one of the suspension rubbers broke (£2)
and it was hitting the metal heat shield under the car.

I'd start the car when it's not hot,
and push and pull the exhaust from underneath at the side, and at the rear,
..it'll soon become clear where the noise is coming from.

It'll probably be where the pipes connect, hopefully a loose nut

Eurocarparts or ebay is a good place to get ideas of prices
(not GSF anymore, as they are giving silly 53% off...but thei rprices are over 53% added compared to eurocarparts etc. Daft marketing idea, imo, as newbies will be paying nearly double if they doin't have the voucher code. and will probably never go back)

Cheers

Some back roomers might remember last year my mum inherented her late uncle's cherished 1962 Mercedes 300sl roadster. It had been sat undriven since the early 80s (befor I was born). After getting it recoverd to storage on my mum's property I with the help if a a friend got it looking like new and driving. I had IT MOTd and it's been sitting up waiting for some nice weather.

I've decided that today is the day I'm going to take it out on the road for th first time. Road tax done last night (free) insurance sorted £150. My mum can't drive so she's promised it to me in her will and has agreed I can use it. ... Read more

. The car drove fantastic all day even kept up with modern motorway traffic without any problems.

Ha! Gone are the days of the late 20th century when a dawn start and motorway cruise control set at 85ish would see you at the Cornish riviera in a few hours. These days a 50yr old Reliant Robin would have little difficulty keeping up with today's insp***ated sluggish M-way traffic. ...

Hi All

Wondering if someone can help identify a knocking noise that has occurred from my 2004 Panda 1.2 Dynamic Dualogic on 48000 miles.

The noise sounds like a knocking / thudding sound from the front end, offside I think. It happens when I first start driving the car from cold, and the knocks speed up and slow down in relation to road speed. I can also feel each thud / knock through the throttle pedal. After about a miles worth of driving the noise goes away, and the car seems fine. The car only went for an MOT a couple of days ago, and I was convinced this might show up what the problem was, thinking it could have been a driveshaft, CV joint, suspension, brakes, or something like that, however it passed the MOT with no advisories. I can't see anything out of place, so am at a real loss as to why this noise should be happening.

I have done a bit of research, but can't find anything that relates to this issue. If anyone has got any views, thoughts or comments on this and what could be causing this noise, I'd be very grateful to hear them.

Many thanks in advance. Read more

Railroad.

I had a similar problem once. After checking all wheel bolts, suspension bushes, ball joints etc the cause turned out to be a loose wheel weight on the inside rim. I was amazed how much noise such a thing could make.

Picked up a reg car on Friday in Bolton after traveling from Cumbrian. Set off from the garage to take the wife shopping in Bolton since it was our first time in the town and didn't know our way around, it was pouring with rain, so visability was not good and noticed that I had entered a bus and taxi lane only after noticing white markings on the road , by this time it was to late to do anything about it, the bus lane was not the standard bus lanes that you get, normal coloured. Black tar Mac and white road markings that was hard to see due to the surface rain.

By the point that i had entered the one way bus taxi only route, it was to late to do anything about it, if i reversed, i would be reversing back out of a one way street onto other traffic, so i decided to carry on driving on the bus taxi lane.... Read more

I think you are fairly safe now. It doesn't take long to track down the last registered keeper and start the paperchase. I would think they are out of time now if they haven't started yet. Cheers Concrete

Dear Honest John,
I am new to Mercedes so please forgive me for the question.
My Mercedes E220 CDI 2006 might need an auto gearbox oil change. When the car is cold, the auto is a bit funny,ie not super smooth, but changes gears as normal. When hot, is plush as anything.
I just want to know if you ever change the Auto Gearbox oil, at what interval and what specs oil should i use? Mine has done exactly 150k miles.
I think the auto gearbox oil has never been changed, or it looks like it.
Any idea where i can find the service intervals, diagrams etc?
Thank you
Much appreciated. Read more

I'd be surprised if the car has gone this long without a gearbox oil change, if so the previous owner(s) was foolish.

My suggestion is as above, either a member of fedauto or a MB specialist indy to do the job, not a car to entrust to just anyone.

That'll be an injector problem - knocking together with smoke is usually a faulty injector.

Do you get sound if you play a cassette?

If so, check the aerial cable hasn't come out (they are a pretty poor fit)
