Simple question, should the service interval display "track" my full services (12 months / 10k miles) or my major services (24 months / 24 k miles)?
It's currently tracking the 12 month one.
Thanks. Read more

It can track the standard 1 year service or the long life service 20000 mile, which ever it has been set for. If yours is on the 12 month then you cant change it it needs the garage to set it for the longlife service, but you can reset the 12 month service back to zreo yourself.

I notice in the news today that Volkswagen has possibly overtaken Toyota as the worlds biggest manufacturer based on sales. Further investigation reveals that it is actually the Volkswagen group that they are talking about. Considering we are now talking about Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Seat, Bently , Bugatti, Lamborghini and Porsche, it is not really surprising. Considering the amount of Audi cars alone on the British roads, VAG group cars must have overtaken Toyota/Lexus long ago in the UK.

Agreed. If you have an order form it should show the p/x valuation. Why would that change according to wwhether you have made a payment and reduced the settlement figure. The £500 is yours.

Is there a product on sale for removing residue polishing wax which has inadvertently strayed onto black trim?

That is a product to remove the wax, not just 'black' over it. ... Read more

Meguiars cleaning products are very good. Not cheap (around a tenner) but superb results and it lasts a long time.

Hello,

Now spring is coming i have taken my renault 19 out of hibernation, but after driving an automatic for the last wee while noticed the clutch biting point is high. I had a mechanic test the clutch to make it slip and it wont. Also the clutch was replaced not that long ago, car has only done 43,000, clutch at 34,000. And i am definately not hard on the clutch. anyway. ... Read more

I had a Peugeot 406 that I bought with a high clutch pedal with the suggestion that it was on its way out, I ran it for about 50,000 miles and it never got any worse. If it doesn't slip I wouldn't worry about it.

I asked for some advice on used cars a few days ago and got some good comments hoping to get the same again. I was asking for any comments about about 3 cars including this one...
1999 BMW 323i 2.5L Convertible 120,000 miles £1490
The advice I got was basically don't buy it ! Unless you want to be spending a ton on repairs and maintenance. Having got this advice I started thinking about what it is I want from my car and have come to the following conclusion. Maybe I'm vain but I'm basically just interested in the look. I don't drive fast and am not that interested in performance. I also much prefer the look of older cars. Budget wise I don't have a lot .., possibly up to £5k. So I'm asking for any comments/thoughts etc when it comes to an older model saloon car that looks good cruising. To give you a better idea my ideal car would be a 1966 Chrysler imperial (black beauty from green hornet). Given my location and budget I'm very aware that I'm no where near close to be able to getting something like this but wondering if anyone has any ideas. thanks in advance and sorry for the ramble. Just to give you an idea of running costs, friend at work this week:

Few years old BMW coupe, in lovely condition, 4 tyres and a new headlamp came to over £1000. I can think of other ways I would rather spend that!...

Have an issue with the electric boot as in it will only close halfway, then reopen. Quite common problem when I googled it and looking at the history of my vehicle its been worked on before. I'm just querying the obvious fault/solution. A new motor is apparently hundreds from vauxhall. I've seen threads suggesting that the potentiometer being replaced would fix it, some threads saying you can get away with cleaning the locking mechanism and struts with electrical contact spray and WD40.
